used 2008 purchasing questions

The mechanics diagnostics recommend replacing the hybrid battery ecu and the transaxle assembly. The car is selling for $1200 and has 150K on the odometer. I intend to do the work myself on it but I want to be sure that it is worth it before I do. Any advice is welcome.
