2 days ago I took my 08 Prius into Cavender Toyota of San Antonio for service. I had an appointment. Upon delivering my car at the appointed time, I was checked in and a Toyota employee asked for my key FOB. I wasn't aware that I needed to document every little detail. After the service their Valet dropped my Prius near the customer waiting area. The valet says, "Your FOB is in the car", and I confirm this upon sitting behind the wheel. When I return home, I pick up the FOB to remove the taped tag which identified the owner of the car. The red panic-button covering is gone. I immediately call the dealership, who put me through to service, and by chance I was connected to the very same representative call me was handling my vehicle. He said the key was like that when they got it. Mind you that he is not the first employee to handle my vehicle or its FOB. But instead of saying something to the effect of, "We are very sorry about that-Let me ask around", he just denies that the FOB was complete. I asked to be connected to his manager, and after having a discussion with that person, I'm waiting to see what the dealership's next step will be. After having just spent $1,200 in that dealership, I was hoping that the staff would be a little more empathetic. Is there any easy way to replace that little red button? Thanks.
you might find a used fobon ebay and switch the guts. years ago, when i would take my miata in for service, they would always walk the car and note any defects in and out before servicing
