Read the descriptions thoroughly as the $45 modules are USED.

I did find one person selling new Toyota modules parted from a new pack for $90 and that's the only way you can buy a new module because Toyota (and their supplier) do not sell new modules separately; only as a pack.

I think we have members that will sell you 2 good tested modules for around $100 shipped.

If you are fixing a used battery you probably don't want to put in NEW modules. They will be to different than the used ones.

    Stick with used.

This is a classic whack a mole type of repair. You are blindly mixing 2004 modules with 2013 modules. You should have at least bought 2 matching pairs for the block. Gives you a slightly better chance at getting a repair to last more than 30 days

There are new Prius modules available from Asia.
In the past they have not played well with existing modules. And even a pack of all new Asian cells never faired well. Maybe things have changed, but I'm not going to have my customers take that chance.

Again, please read the entire ad as they are VERY misleading. There aren't any new INDIVIDUAL modules being sold on ebay (only entire packs). Here's just one example of a module designated as "new" but when you read the description it says (bold mine),

"Hybrid Battery Cell Module Toyota Prius Camry Lexus 6.5ah* by HV HYBRID PARTS Used OEM Hybrid module tested under a heavy 60 Amp load..."

    together.

What does that mean "7.5v to 7.74v with head light bulb on"?

    Wil,

I would be wary of putting 2 "new" 2013 modules together as one block. That could cause issues with voltage differences. If the 2013s are significantly higher/better capacity, they will have less voltage droop during discharge, and less less voltage increase during charging compared to the older modules. This could cause the ECU to think there is a problem if the voltage difference between the highest and lowest block exceeds its limit. This is why it's important to consider matching replacement modules to the expected characteristics of the remaining modules.

I'm not saying it won't work, just providing input from experience gained from testing many many many many hundreds of modules

It's amazing how crappy modules can be as long as they are all equally crappy.

Adding in a new, awesome set into a crappy pack is a recipe bfor failure.

What does this prove? Is there a set time frame on the load? Did you do it to the rest of the pack?

Usually when people are load testing with a bulb, they record the starting voltage and run it for 120 seconds, then record the ending voltage. You do that to all the modules and you'll see which ones are weak and needing reconditioning/replacement. This is preferably done with a pack that's fully charged.

Although the load on the bulb is not that great, it'll give you a pretty good idea on which ones will crap out soon.
