    Like all things, there are pros and cons with upgrading to a Plus 1, 2, or 3 wheel & tire combo.

    For me, the pros far outweigh the cons.

    Looks nice and Enkei make good quality wheels, OEM for a lot of manufacturers.

    Any idea on the weight of the Vulcan wheel? I don’t see any weight spec online.

    I bet they handle great and I'm sure your Prime now feels like a much sportier car.

    I was finally able to drive the last couple days. I’ve gone from 5k+ miles a month to <400 since March. I went on a 600 mile round trip Tues-Wed. The car feels much more in control on curves and at speed. I really like the way it feels. Fuel economy looks to be down about 10%.

    What are 3 typical tire sizes for a 18" applications?

    Also, what is your opinion on these specs on wheels/tires - 18x8.5 +45 (18.25lbs) / 225/40/18?

    1) Your first and probably only real choice is tire size 225/40-18, then possibly consider a 215/40-18.

    2) Personally I think a 18x8.5" ET45 is a Big Wheel to stuff in there, but that's just me...

    According to Tire Rack a 18x8.5" ET45 fits a Prime so you're good to go, though I'm sure it's fairly close to the strut. I'd give reasonable consideration to the Continental PureContact LS tire on this package because they're Very Lightweight at 20.3 lbs & Eco/Fuel friendly.

    Take a look at how I designed my wheel & tire package, I took a very lightweight 19.2 lbs 205/50-17 tire which is the very closest OD to OE at 25.1" (just like the 225/40-18) and then I mounted them on a lightweight 17x7" ET40 17.0 lbs wheel. I then installed them with a high quality 5mm spacer that is both hub centric (54.1) & bolt centric 5x100), which translates to a 17x7" ET35 wheel. As you can see in my picture (drivers rear), my package does a great job of pushing the wheel & tire outward in the wheel well to make it look like I've got big wide wheels & tires when I really don't; all in an affordable lightweight semi-fuel efficient setup.

    Rob43 asked me to report back on my 16" aftermarket wheel and tire setup (+1 as opposed to +2 17's), now that I've had a chance to drive it under various conditions, including a couple of longer highway jaunts. I bought aftermarket 16 x 6.5" wheels, 205/55 HR16 Michelin Pilot AS-3+ performance all-season tires (not Eco-rated), as well as a set of cloned pressure sensors.

    I can say I'm very happy with this combination. I have a lot more grip compared with the hard, low-rolling-resistance factory tires, and I can take sweeping on-ramps and zip away from a stop quicker than before. At the same time, having more sidewall compared to a 17" tire means my ride quality and pothole resistance is still very good. I have not directly compared this setup to the factory one in efficiency, but my electric-only range does not seem to be affected significantly. I can still do my entire commute in EV mode, which was the goal. And tire noise is quite low with these Michelins.

    As for looks, I always thought the 15" factory wheels were pretty puny looking, and the plastic covers cheapened the car's appearance. I love the wheels I got, but I think a set of 17's would look even better and could provide even more grip, but on average they will be heavier, louder, will clomp more over bumps, be more vulnerable to pothole damage and be less efficient. So it all depends on your priorities...

    ive ordered some 17x7 Maxxim Maze(40 offset ) with 205--50-17tires . might need to copy your set up. you don't mind.
