I'm not into modding, but I have to say those wheels look great. They have got the same kind of silver to grey ratio of the original 17's silver to black, but without going the full black route that so many people choose, I bet they look great in motion.

 

where did you purchase the wheels/tires?

 

I purchased them used from a Corolla owner. I looked at the specs first to make sure it would fit. The center bore is the same so that was a big plus. These forums were very helpful in providing fitment info to assure me that the 18x8 rim with +40 offset would fit. As far as offset is concerned, the front wheels are flush. The rear wheels could probably be pushed out another 5-10mm. I’ll have a better idea once it is lowered.

I’ll post additional photos after I have the Tanabe springs installed.

So I had the Tanabe springs installed yesterday at Evasive Motorsport. I'm used to taking my GT-R there to be worked on so it was a bit strange to see the Prius on the lift surrounded by race cars. Lots of cool cars there. R33 Skyline, old Supras, new Supras, R35 GT-R's, Evos, turbo S2000s, 911 GT3s, etc. Anyway, the install was uneventful. The two questions everyone probably has are one, how is the ride, and two, how does it look. So ride comfort, I'd have to say doesn't feel much different. The only time I notice that the springs are stiffer is when I hit a large bump on the freeway, or when I rip around a corner at full speed. In fact, the handling is much better, and I'm not talking about cruising around at 25mph. I've taken the car on an onramp where I can hit 1.5g in my GT-R. With 15 wheels and stock suspension I could barely crawl on this onramp. With the 18" wheels and 225/40/18 tires plus the springs, I can go much faster. On one particular freeway exchange, I used to go 45 mph and the car felt unstable. I can now take that at close to 60mph and feel confident, partly because of the stiffer springs, partly because of the lower center of gravity, and largely because of the much wider tires. The ride is definitely not harsh, though I am used to driving a GT-R and M3 with full KW V3 suspension. How does it look? Pretty good. It will take another week or two to settle, but it definitely looks better than the stock ride height. I wouldn't mind if it was even lower but I can see that the rear wheels have already developed some negative camber so this is probably as low as you would want to go. I've attached photos of before and after. It looks good, but I'm now tempted to go with fully forged 18" wheels because these OEM 18" Corolla wheels are heavy and have definitely had a negative impact on fuel economy, probably 5-8mpg, but it’s worth it for the vastly improved cornering grip. I measured the height of the top of the fenders before the install, and after these Tanabe springs settle I’ll measure them again to show what the difference is. So here are the photos.

So I just did a 16 mile drive that I used to be able to get between 60-70mpg on with the 15” wheels. I could only manage 52mpg with the 18” wheels. Big difference, but that’s ok. It’s a worthy trade off for me.

 

what was the cost for install at evasive?

 

Took some measurements before and after from the ground to the top of the fender. It’s only been a few days so I’ll remeasure in a month or so but this gives you an idea of the height difference.
