Very impressed with the performance, pickup and go. Now I am going to GASP, read the owner manuals!! Having owned two previous Priuses, it took a few seconds in new car to get use to no hybrid engine sound at power on and ICE shutdown when stopping at intersections or waiting. But I'll manage somehow. When I got home I had to put it on charge. I found out that for some reason plugging 120V cord into 3way 3 pronged cube kept charger from working, but direct into socket was OK. Must be the power pack GFCI is sensitive??. Still waiting for electrician to install dedicated outlet. But read that at least I can't drive vehicle with charger connected (sure there is a Murphy's law here). However wondered if that is true if say charger 120V cord was unplugged (or power failure), but still connected to car charger port, does car sense connected plug and inhibit operation? Thanks for reading.
Mine at least tells me the charger port door is open. Never tried going beyond that and pulling out of the garage with plug still in the socket with charger cable deenergized.
It will not go into READY mode if it's still plugged in or if the charge door is open. No READY, no go. Congrats. EV only driving can be addictive. PS, if your not going to drive it much very soon, you might want to check the voltage on the 12V battery. Dealers don't always give them a charge and with reduced COVID-19 driving, some batteries are getting low before owners realize it. There's a PDF version of the manuals at Welcome to Toyota Owners. It's searchable, portable, and a lot easier to read if you have a big screen.
I just combined the owners manual and the navigation manual into one document. I never seemed to know which one to search for certain things, so now I have “One PDF to rule them all, one PDF to find them, one PDF to bring them all, and in the information bind them.” (Apologies to J.R.R. Tolkien )
Congrats! Enjoy the EV ride. It's so smooth and quiet. In Eco mode, it's perfect. In normal mode, it's quite zippy.
