Dorman HV Battery with a new lease on life.....

    Replace # 21, 23, and 26.

    Before reassembly do the same thing to all the modules. The thing can be charge or discharge. The important point is consistency.

    I've recently started to recondition my battery pack. My settings are at a 1.0a discharge to 6.0v and a 3.0a charge to 7500mah. But I've been having weird results where the mAh are extremely low or each cycle the discharge capacity will improve while the charge will get worse or vice versa. Just curious if that's because the cells are reaaaallly bad or because the balance charger is messing up.

    The cells are probably pretty bad/old. I just reconditioned a pack from a 2005 and I had some stubborn cells. I ended up changing my settings on some of the stubborn cells to discharge down to 5.0v and I did a 2amp charge to 8500mah. I think 7500 is too low to get it to overcharge. Without having to duplicate all of the information and pictures, refer to this post I just updated with the final MAH readings, as well as load testing procedure and results. I am now getting 45+ mpg

    For a minor update, this battery remains in my 2007 and continues to be an absolute beast. I've been putting in a small amount of effort to stay aware of my driving habits and I've been over 50 mpg (on the mfd) almost every tank during the last 6 months, with some 54+. The ones that have been under 50 have been times when I've done higher speed out of state trips.

    Once the weather gets a bit hotter, I'll do a battery test and post the results for comparison to the one done a year ago after installation.

    Awesome, I didn't get bad mpgs with that battery until right before it failed. Never expected it to be so strong again.

    Anyway, its replacement has been flawless, you do great work.

    The one thing I know is if I ever have an opportunity to get an old battery pack I'm going to ask you for advice. ;)

    Thank you for creating this post, My car is 2007 /w 120k, my modules are vintage 2006 (27XH) I believe this pack has never been opened. I was using the 'standard' 1.0a D-Charge to 6.0v and 1.5a Chg to 7500mah CO and wasn't getting good improvements/results. After making the parameter changes based on this thread, the modules woke-up and have been steadily improving. I'm a few days away for having the pack average ~5600, and now need to decide do I run all the modules X additional cycles to see if I can get closer to an average of 5800-6000? Time isn't an issue, I'm more concerned about module life. A couple of questions if you have a moment... 1) Based on reading many PC comments/threads, the general thought is each D-C cycle is hard on the module and shortens its life, after 19 cycles and 11-12 months later have you noticed or do you anticipant any decrease in performance/earlier shorten life from this experimental pack compared to other packs that you have built with lesser D-C cycles? 2) What method did you use to pair your finished modules, a) by high and low capacity mah or b) load testing results to achieve 14 as near as possible 'identical pairs'?
