See article from the Guardian: http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,1885259,00.html The expenditure of hundreds of billions of dollars without any tangible benefit to the US is not just a waste of money, but is seriously undermining the US economy, our standard of living and our independence.
Yet more proof that Neocons hate America (real Conservatives like, you know, CONSERVE money - not spend it like a drunken sailor like Bush and his lapdogs in Congress do).
"Neocons hate America" Music to my ears. Love it or leave it. By the way, neo-con is not short for neo conservative. It is derived from "neo", a form of "new" and con, a short form of con artist. It means "new con-artist".
Well the Chinese gov't seems to know something about how to raise the standard of living for its people, and control population growth. Maybe we'd be better off with them calling the shots.
I got back from China recently. You won't find a more energetic or optimistic place. Now if they can just get rid of the great firewall - - -
Tax the rich within an inch of their lives to make up all the debt PLUS to make up the huge surplus Clinton left as his legacy. They got the tax breaks, they made the huge dividends, they got the obscene golden parachutes and raises. It would do the rich good to be so broke that they would not know how they are gonna feed their kids week to week or pay their housing costs or medical costs. In one hell of a hurry we would end this partisian bickering when we were all in the same boat. Until this debt is paid off and the Clinton legacy earned back as a surplus, this handing our economic power to other nations is criminal in it's intent, against all a strong national platform could possibly mean, and is worse than a tax increase since all that interest leaves the country. Neocons have shown time and again during the past 6 years just how much they want to sabatoge our nation. This issue must remain prominent till it's resolved.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(MarinJohn @ Oct 2 2006, 03:39 PM) </div> Exactly right. We are bankrupting the US, indebting our children and enriching other (more sensible) countries.
From msnbc article today: "As of Thursday, the total national debt outstanding stood at nearly $8.5 trillion — or $8,487,096,306,559.55 to be exact." But who's counting?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jared2 @ Oct 2 2006, 03:54 PM) </div> Didn't we used to be referred to as "the richest country in the world"?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Dragonfly @ Oct 2 2006, 04:57 PM) </div> Still are, but we surely have been busy dismantling our manufacturing base. Soon there will be little left that isn't fixed down.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(triphop @ Oct 3 2006, 04:44 PM) </div> That won't bother the international billionaire's club since their money can be moved around the world with a mouse click.
