Today I started skating although I still have some thread left maybe half , but the brand is cooper and I think it's only for summer type of tire. I apologize for my english , new american I was curious which is best regardless of price (shortest distance on wet asphalt) And also what is a best buy like pretty high wet traction 8/10 but much lower price I was thinking Michelin a/s best? And maybe kumho bestbuy ? But which model? (sumitomo any good ?) Your experiences in heavy rain ?
Completely happy with my Yokohama Avid Ascend GTs (#2 in the list kindly provided by @KennyGS). I live just north of you near Tampa and I've driven in a few downpours. These are fantastic rain tires. As a bonus, after 20,000 miles, I still have 7/16" of tread left.
The chart posted should give you the information you are looking for. BUT...... When driving in heavy rain or through any amount of standing water............... There is NO substitute for SLOWING DOWN. And if the rain is really heavy or the water very deep, slow WAY down......or stop in a safe place. NO tire ever made is immune to hydroplaning in the right conditions.
I would find out first which exact model tire I have first before calling them summer tires. If they're not, I'd leave earlier & I drive slower. If they are listed as summer tires, I'd still drive slower and ride it out because the hot weather is on the way. On a side note, when I got my new all season tires in January, for the first week of tire life, I was able to hydroplane on them going fast intentionally for experimental purpose. Feel free to put that into perspective
I always drive slow with bad weather conditions , or even stop it I cannot see properly , I'll try a bit slower when the sun is up again(in florida the weather is like now it's raining and then after 1 hour is super sunny and perfect a lot of times), but everyone is driving a bit fast here when the weather is nice (after rain some tiny puddles form though)and i understood from people around here that sometimes if you don't go with the flow of traffic it may increase the chance of accidents is that true? About you Grit thinking summer is almost here and I can use the summer tires , no way man, all summer long there is a huge amount or rain coming since Florida is a sub-tropical climate it starts in May and ends late October(off-season) Actually the rainless part of the year here is the other one =November thru April , that's on-season when all the snowbirds come here and enjoy they nicest weather in the USA

True dat!! And so is the rain. At least I hope so. Summer is our wet season and it's been super dry lately. Starting to get some brush fires now.
I think the good news for anyone looking for tires are resources like the above added Tire Rack chart. Discount Tire, Tire Rack, Big O Tires, plenty of resources to get comparative tire reviews. I like the consumer based reviews as opposed to the tire manufacturers claims. And the more reviews from owners I can find that have actually owned the tires a significant amount of time? The Better. I tend to toss out reviews from people who have only had them 2 weeks.
I'll throw in on #7 from the list. Those Goodyear ComforTreds are a nice, safe, quiet tire. I have driven on nothing else since starting my Prius adventure. Also agree and ++ on slowing down in wet weather.
I don't recommend this tirerack screenshot list, the tire width is incorrect. The spec will provide less grip and traction on the road, the opposite of original post.

I did have some Goodyear and Douglas but I wasn't satisfied with their wet traction I had some amazing wet syopping distance tires Micheling Premier A/S from Costco got a great deal like 20% off and free installation and rotations for my previous car the old 2007 Camry Hybrid Buy the car was totalled courtesy of a smart guy with a Siena that ran a red light at night with his headlights off and "said hi So I don't know how good they are in terms of treadware (paid about 500$) Any of you guys had those on a Prius ? How is the wet traction and treadware on those Yokohamas ? How about on Vredestein Quatrac 5 ? How many miles have you guys gotten on your tires and which tire model do you own?
Just a side note: "Wet traction" and "hydroplaning" are two DIFFERENT THINGS. A tire that it rated for good wet traction SHOULD also be less likely to hydroplane......but that is not a guarantee.
I don't know what class of tire the up-thread table was for, nor do I know how TireRack's recommendations might differ for a 2007 Prius, but for my 2015 Prius the top recommendation for a Grand Touring All-Season tire is the Michelin Crossclimate+ (Treadwear rating 600) then the Bridgestone Turanza Quiettrack (Treadwear rating 800) The Vredestein Quatrac 5 has a Treadwear rating of only 400 The Yokohama Avid Ascend GT has a Treadwear rating of 740 Neither of these last two is shown as "Consumer recommended" If I needed new tires now, I'd probably go with the Bridgestone.
Is the Michelin Cross more of an "all-weather" tire, to use Kal Tire's (local place, sells Nokian all-weathers, and a few other similar) language. A little more aggressive/gripping than an all-season, and has the mountain/snowflake symbol?
