Hello all, my car is currently in a semi disassembled state. I have new coolant and new tranny fluid ready to go in but I wanted some opinions. Should I change the antifreeze? The car is a dec 2017 manufactured Prius prime and I just hit 132k miles Poor thing was overdue for a oil change for 2k miles.
If doing a coolant change and you've disassembled the car, do the egr circuit. 132 k miles should be a good gauge of condition. I just installed an oil catch can, so we'll get data soon, but I'm only at 21 k miles on our 2019. But change the coolant and pool the maintenance.
For starters don't follow that install picture; it's plumbed into the vent hose between valve cover and intake, that's NOT where you want to be. You should be tapping into the hose that runs between PCV valve on the front wall of the engine block, and the intake manifold. And there's no description of the can. Plus those are the cheapo braided hoses, collapse easy. You want fuel line grade SAE 30R6 or 30R7. And when pushing the hoses onto barb splicers, screw-clamps are not really needed. Here's a good thread: Oil Catch Can, Eliminate that knock! | PriusChat Third gen, but basically the same engine. I'll attach some 4th gen coolant instructions.
