Hey, im working on getting a birdseye view 360 camera on my car, ive worked aroudn the issue where i would have to give up the parking assist. Simply buy this box and i can keep both RFCC GEN5 SD/HDD Rear and Front View Car Camera Control System for Toyota GEN5 / GEN6 ive talked with the guys at car-solution and this box will let me keep the parking assist, since it only switches the signals into the monitor. Ill keep my OEM reverse camera and just use the "mode" button on the steering wheel to switch views. The box simply adds another video cable input and makes a overide output for when i click the mode button if that makes sense lol. My question is now, does anyone know of a cheaper system box then this i got a link of here? I plan to make my surround view kinda like BMW, just that on the BMW the front camera doesnt show on the 360 view, but on mine the rear camera wont show up, since i can just press the mode button and it will switch views to the rear cam (it will also switch by itself for everytime i change gears from drive to reverse, in reverse the OEM reverse camera will get displayed, when im going forwards the front and side view will get displayed.) this is the two ive foudn now, the second one is the cheaper option but also looks the best actually... 1: Boyo VT-BP Quad processor and Switcher with 4 Camera Inputs and Wired remote 2: Universal 360 Degree Bird View Panorama System Car DVR Recording rear view camer 707242632470 | eBay
I am also looking into getting a 360 cam for the car. However, cannot find information on this. Anyone has done this mod? I am getting something that look like the one in the 2nd link. Not sure about getting the cams connected to the headunit. Should I be getting a plug that comes with RCA output or directly splice into the wires. Also, unable to find the RCA output cable for Prius. This is for another Toyota car but something like this would make it much easier to mod the car cleanly and easily. Please advice.
I installed one of these a few years back. It was quite a project installing the cameras and routing all the wires. It needed to be calibrated to get the image merging right. The checkered mats are for the calibration procedure. I really liked it because I was super paranoid about curb rashing my G-Sport wheels.
I can see you are using after market HU. This should comes with RCA input for reverse cam (which is used by the cams combined). Do you have a project page in this forum with details of the installation? Would be interested to read more about your project.
[/ QUOTE]
The most challenging part of the install was mounting the cameras in the side-mirrors, and then routing all of the wires. I installed the DVR unit behind the panel under the bridge. The output of the DVR is a single video signal which becomes the reverse camera input. I took some snapshots along the way.
Nifty! Does it record each camera view? Why did you mount the mirror camera so close? Why not on the outer edge? NOT complaining, just wondering.
I modeled the camera mounting after a Nissan OEM birdseye system I had seen. Otherwise, I didn't consider mounting it out near the end. But there's not a lot of room to work with. I might be concerned about it interfering with the mirror movement.
