The screen on my multi-information display (MID) has been unresponsive to the touch about 80 percent of the time. The buttons on either side of the screen work. As do the controls on the steering wheel. But I cannot select preset radio stations or adjust the intensity of the AC fans, among other things. While the car is a 2006, I have treated like a new baby since then. Only 107k miles on it over 13 years. 1) What do others think is the likely cause of this? 2) For those who have had issue this issue before, what was your ultimate fix, if any? Would love to avoid a full replacement of the head unit, if possible, due to cost considerations. Thanks a ton, folks! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Assuming your 12 V battery is in tip-top condition and your car does not sit idle for long periods of time, it could be a failure of the digitizer layer on the screen. The best way to fix this would be to buy a nice clean working MFD (multi-functional display) from a wrecker/dismantler/pick-a-part place. Just ensure you get the correct part number off the back of your current MFD so that you do not run into compatibility issues with the replacement. I believe it takes about 20-30 minutes to remove the MFD. I hope that helps.
Thanks a lot for the advice. Will follow up with the forum when it gets resolved. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Hello, i have problem with screen in my Prius II 2008, screen no react on touch.. Dont know what i should do
So I recently was experiencing the same issues with my screen before it went out altogether, now I have taken that one out and today I received my “new” touch screen replacement and it doesn’t work. I assumed maybe a fuse was blown but that wasn’t the case. I am assuming that the company I received the new touch screen from would verify it works before shipping although I will double check is there any other recommendations to what else could be happening? Thanks
