Replacing a cracked front turn signal housing in a 2010.

    The official manual claims you need to remove the front bumper to do this.

    You don't.

    1) Remove the wheel on the side of the broken turn signal. (Obviously, you'll need to jack up this side of the car to do this)
    2) Remove the wheel well liner. A few 10 mm bolts, but mostly plastic fasteners that can be removed with a couple of small, flat bladed screwdrivers. I only needed to free up the front of the liner. It's plastic and once you've removed enough of those fasteners, it'll fold out of the way nicely.
    3) Scrooch under the car and pull the 10mm nut holding the fog lamp (or the cover for the non existent fog lamp). This cover can stay in place, but it makes things a bit easier to pop it out now. Unclip the wire going to the turn signal light. You'll have to pull back the plastic claws that hold it in place, but this isn't too hard.
    4) The turn signal housing is clipped into the bumper by 3 clips on its corners. Bend the clips inwards (strong fingers or a screwdriver) and work the housing out. BTW, every time I get up close and personal with the underside of a car, dirt invariably rains down on my face. A good pair of safety glasses is pretty much a must.

    Replacement is the reverse of removal, and easier, too. The new housing just snaps in, as does the wire to the turn signal bulb. Remember to replace the fog light or fog light cover, and replace the 10mm bolt holding it all together. Then do the same for the wheel liner and wheel, lower the car, and you've just saved yourself around $100 - $200 in body shop labor.

    Thanks for posting this. You likely saved me some work.

    I found I didn't even need to remove the wheel, jack up the car, or climb under it. I just removed the engine under cover bolt and clip (as shown in the Owner's Manual for replacing the bulb) and the one pin and screw from the front of the wheel well, all while sitting on the ground next to the car. That got me enough access to replace the turn signal assembly.

    Unfortunately the one I bought wouldn't go all the way in. I bought an NSF certified TYC part from RockAuto listed for my 2010 Prius, but the "washer" attached at the base of the stud that holds the nut was too large (much larger than on the original part) to fit into the hole in the plastic that's part of the fog light cover, so the lens protruded a bit from the front of the bumper. I ground the washer down with a Dremel until it would fit in the hole, and then it worked fine.

    I hope this thread isn't dead I need to replace the front left turn signal on my 2010
    Do I need to replace the grey piece that is under it too or can I keep the grey piece that is on there ?

    The grey piece is where the fog lights go. It's just a cover plate if you don't have fog lights

    I know this is an old post, just wanted to thank you for the information. Easy peasy!!! Why anyone would remove the whole bumper cover to do this is beyond me.

    Again, i know this is an old post, and I assume you, by now, found a suitable turn signal assembly. I will offer this, new, from the dealer, the genuine Toyota part is not expensive, is original genuine quality, and obviously perfect fit.
