I have nothing other than a phone number

Guy did the work for the previous owner.

I for giggles I called the NY state police

    I also emailed them

I was told for whatever reason I need to report this to the DMV of NY

I could very easily if that's his personal phone number acquire his address and full name.

    I'd suspect it is

This can't be an actual business that he's paying taxes on.

Before you waste a bunch of time and money on this, figure out what's your end game. One of the benefits of being a business and not an individual is that you can separate your assets. So if Alex@SomeBusiness did the work and not "just Alex", then all he has to do is bankrupt the company. You may win court costs and all sorts of stuff, but you're going to get nothing and be out a lot of money. In my state it costs $50 to file for an LLC. And $8/mo for a business account. As long as good practices were used and he wasn't fraudulent, you're out of gas. He can open up another business the next day for $58 and you don't get a dime.

Sometimes you learn hard life lessons and the cheap comes out expensive.

Having said all that, with all the craziness happening right now in the world, there is a real possibility that he just has other things to tend to. That's part of the charm of a small business. Hopefully he'll get back to you in a few months when things start to calm down for the first time, but if not you'll just have to move on and fix it yourself.

I really don't care about money

I just don't want someone else to get fisted.

I mean if someone wants to get fisted go ahead but getting fisted without consent.. not right

My impression is that Banksy wants to get the word out about Alex. If Banksy can recover some funds: great but unlikely. As mentioned in my prior post, Alex's minivan has Florida tags which means that Alex also likely has a FLA address and driver's license. Meaning that serving legal process on Alex would be difficult (IOW, recovery of funds from Alex is very remote because of procedural hurdles such as how do you serve someone whose name and likely FLA address that you do not know). AFAIK, 6 month/6000 mile warranty without a provision barring assignment of warranty should allow Banksy to pursue Alex legally as if he was the original buyer. However, as mentioned above, the chance of serving Alex for legal process processes is very remote. Hence, the reason that I suggested a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (will NOT allow Banksy to receover funds but will likely provide others with a warning). And, obviously this posting on priuschat.

    Update:

Joe for 2nd life batteries figured out what happened and is sending me the correct cells meant for this pack and is having me send back the ones accidentally sent to me.

He has offered to refund me 50.00 for this mistake.

He seemed very apologetic and said this is the first time it's ever happened .

Sounds like the same guy. Hallandale FLA is very helpful. Do you have Alex's telephone number for his Doctor Prius business?

Google suggests it is ' "Prius Doctor". They only list an address though and call it an electronics store.

So odds are he hasn't listed an actual business then

Could be considered tax evasion to some o.0

Perhaps he's operating out of NY due to warrants in FL.

Don't know what extradition law is in FL but that makes sense to me.

@Banksy what ended up happening with your replacement? Did it work out all right?

I just found out my battery needs to be replaced and the mechanic I take the Prius to for regular check-ups said it would be about $3,000 to $3,500. Yikes!

Reading through here to make a better decision.

    Thanks!

I'm going to label this thread somebody got fisted who didn't want to get fisted.

C'mon Banksy you've been beating this site to death. I see you in all kinds of threads. You should know what time it is.

It doesn't matter how great of a job you do "rebuilding" a G2 battery by cleaning and replacing interconnect and load testing all the modules yada yada there still 13-14-15 year old USED repeat USED modules and there is no guarantee they will even last 30 days. Some even last a few months maybe longer whoopie. Your going back in.

Much less a A Craigs List whack a mole job which is just slam in a module that happens to work at that moment and then install it and run.
Never mind the entire battery is corroded to hell.

But you were listening to and trusting a Ukranian dude with out of state plates in his shorts in your driveway? Now your wondering about extradition laws?

    Dude.

Take it as a learning lesson and keep moving. Dwelling on it isn't going to make things better.

    Thanks for updating it here.

If you are DIY the kit of new cells From @2k1Toaster for $1600 delivered Is your best choice. The link is in my signature. It basically gives you the equivalent of a new pack with better cooling air flow.

    Thanks @Prodigyplace

I don't completely understand how this is done. With 2k1Toaster, would I be swapping out the original battery cores or replacing the whole unit with a new battery for $1,600?

I'm not comfortable swapping out individual cores. In my mind it's also more reliable to just swap out the whole unit for a new one.

If you're wanting a WHOLE NEW battery pack, only Toyota sells it, and it is NOT the price you see above. It's usually about $1k more.

With a Toyota new pack they sell you an empty shell with new modules in it. You swap over all your old electronics. In my kit I sell you new modules so you leave your electronics and swap the modules out.

I'd say 9/10 prefer swapping the modules to the electronics. It's just easier.

Toyota does sell a pack with new everything but it is a lot more expensive.

Is there a wait-list for your kit? What would the expected shipping be?

The $1600 price includes shipping to the continental US. You can sell your old modules later to reduce the cost further.

Yes, you order and you go on the list. First ordered, first shipped. Shipping in continental US is free.
