one's gradually changing, the other is exponentially growing. It won't be long before it is obvious to all which is the bigger problem.

You can prepare for it or not.

As mentioned before, I will continue taking prudent personal and family hygiene measures. That doesn't include unwarranted panic as is being pushed by media like everything else. A media induced crisis becomes a real crisis as we are currently seeing.

Once zombies come into the picture, things may change.

I may have mentioned that in the gun sales thread by @cyberpriusII, not necessarily this thread...

I guarantee you that you are not seeing smart prep. You are seeing stupid. Lots of it.

People need a little extra. Some need a little more than others just because they have become accustomed to having very, very little reserve, and everyone deserves to have just a little more of everything.

What you are seeing is a massive, desperate, utter failure of apportionment executed by the herd.

And that's just the way it goes here in the USA. We will stabilize and get back to normal from this point.

Hopefully not too much food will have spoiled. Freeze stuff now if you aren't eating it!

Totally agree!! Especially down here. The bonehead density on our roads is amazing. I couldn't begin to count the number of little crosses and memorials along the highway I have to drive several times a week.

Looking at the bright side around here, there's a lot less traffic on the roads.

Same here. Still plenty of cars, but at least not stop 'n' creep all the way. Actually got to drive at or above the limit this morning.

Yes, I was watching when he said that. I just about sprayed my drink out of my nose....was laughing so hard.

Odds are good that many people took it as fact. Kind of like when the "news" said Bloomberg could have taken the money he spent on his campaign, divided it up among all Americans and we would get a million $ each....and then it got repeated.....clueless....

It sure would open up a lot of parking spots at my favorite restaurants though. Tons of openings higher up the ladder at work also!! As long as you're not one of the 150M.

We normally get groceries on Friday mornings. Yesterday our governor declaring a whole statewide state of emergency, things have tightened a little. We went to the store this morning just to see if a few things could be gotten early. It was crowded but calm. The usual stuff was low stock and as soon as the meat market opened there was a quick line to get ground round. All and all it was not terrible. It's getting to where you have to be a little smart about where and when you shop. The stores seem to be restocking 24x7.

We're still only at 10 positive cases and 174 negative and 29 pending. Not bad when compared to other places.

Starting on Thursday, the Stop & Shop supermarkets like the one around the corner from my house will have their first hour and a half after opening dedicated to customers 60 years old or older, in order to allow them to shop in a less-crowded environment. Which is nice for me, I guess, since I should have my pick of the overnight restock. Whether it's really a good idea I'm not so sure.

Of course, the restriction is supposed to be self-enforced. Not sure how that will work out. (Spoiler: It won't.)

And none at all of the things that happen to get delivered in the afternoon and sold on before you're back the next day.

I mean it's a thought? it's something? but I don't see this working terribly well. You'll get a crowd of 60+ers huddled around the front door 20 minutes before they open and then all shopping together at the front end of that time window.

And if we need to de-densify the shopping experience by that much? That creates pressure to open 24 hours so that we can put fewer people in the store at any one time. Make half the customers shop in the middle of the night.

Personally I'm advocating the idea of curbside grocery pickup for suburban America.

I just saw that headline a few minutes ago. Potentially good news. We'll see how it works. The article did say that while they won't be checking IDs, employees will have the right to turn away people who are not in the right age group. It's an opportunity for people to show their character or lack of it.

Hopefully, they will hold back enough staples so there will be stuff for the early birds to buy. Or else get early morning deliveries.
