Have a new 2020 Prius XLE AWD (no spare tire) and looking for a source that might offer a donut spare tire for extended trips. Stock rims are 15” if that matters. Thanks....
Welcome to PriusChat. Your question has been discussed at length in previous threads. New wheel (dealer) is pricey, $120, w/o a tire. Depending on where you live in California, you can probably find one at a junkyard. Or... go to car.part.com. (CORRECTION: car-part.com) They have a nationwide database. There might be a source near you. (there's a wheel available in a Houston auto recovery dealer, called Almeda, shipping probably isn't cheap)
It doesn't matter. The Toyota "donut" spare is 15-inches, whether your car comes with 15- or 17-inch original wheels.
The following numbers are for 2016-2019 Prii. I'm not sure if they apply to the 2020 AWD version. You'll have to cross-reference them on a Toyota parts site. You'll need all of these parts to complete the mod, putting the spare tire under the floor. Spare Tire Donut; T125/70D17 98M - (tire size, on the OEM 17" spare tire rim) Carrier (Spare Tire Retainer) Toyota P/N 51931-47010 (hold-down bolt, bracket is already welded to the trunk floor) Box, deck floor LH Toyota P/N 64997-47050 Box, deck floor RH Toyota P/N 64995-47040 Box, deck floor (Center) Toyota P/N 64993-47090
Well, the temp spare is either 16" (3rd gen) or 17" (4th gen), and either will do. The 16" 3rd gen option is more-or-less identical in outside diameter to 195/65R15 stock tire, while the 17" is oddly smaller, at least 2~3% IIRC. Bit of a puzzle why they changed. I would go with 3rd gen: ---- Gen 3 temp spare info: rim p/n: 42611-20841 tire spec: T135/80D16 101M ----
I stand corrected, and I apologize for the error. The donut spare in my '16 Three Touring is in fact 125/70D17
Will these parts work for a 2019 eAWD Two? I read elsewhere here that the rear electric motor takes up the wheel well space. Thanks!
