I have a 2015 Prius v3 that I would like to put in a new Head Unit. I've been looking at larger ones, but I was wondering if anyone has put in a 10" or 13" Head Unit in? I was wondering if it fit or not? Here are a couple of units I'm looking at. Just wondering what model you have and if you like it or not? 10 Inch - Carbar 12.8" Tesla Style Rotation IPS Screen 2 Din Universal Android 8.1 Car DVD GPS Player Radio Car Stereo Voice Control - AliExpress
I was looking at these, because the 7" double din screens look goofy in that huge center console space. Ultimately, I was dissatisfied with the fit/finish/polish of the software. My wife needs to be able to get in this thing and operate it without issue. They seem to have more functions "available" than they can usually get working. I was going to wait for the 10" alpine/pioneer/sony units in may of this year, but most of them don't offer wireless android auto. Instead, I put the 7" kenwood DMX905s in the dash, and hooked up a maestro RR. It gives me a lot of the features that I wanted from an android unit, with the polish of a kenwood HU. One thing that it does NOT do, is climate control. I recall looking at the 10" screens dimensions with my tape measure out, and it looks like the screen will block either the vents or the climate controls. Because the maestro can't operate the climate controls on my 2010, I figured I'd just stick with the 7" screen.
@TheChip has a very large one installed. You can see pictures in the What did you do to your gen3 prius mod thread. EDIT: This post specifically: What did you do to ur Gen III Prius today???? | Page 896 | PriusChat
I've got that one. It fits, but it does cover the top row of buttons on the HVAC. If you leave it on auto and use the steering wheel buttons it's not an inconvenience. I like it a lot, I wish it were more customizable and there's no android ROM scene to speak of. So pretty much what you get out of the box is what you're stuck with. I do get a slight hissing with the speakers when using wifi. To fix this issue you'd need to take the unit apart entirely and solder a proper wifi antenna. These units have a single wire as the antenna, which seems to cause signal noise.
I installed a standard Double DIN Pioneer with Apple CarPlay in my 2011 Prius II. I don’t think the dash looks terribly blank or underutilized. Fits great. Price was right at $199 for the HU. (Due to the mechanical buttons down the left side which were a huge selling point, this has only a 6.2” screen.)
Mine doesn’t, nor will I miss it. Apple’s car OS will run on a 6.2” screen. For some reason a 7” screen is required for Android - I’m sure it is resolution-related. No big deal. Pioneer Alpine and others have plenty of other models which support it.
