I am looking to get some new wheels for my 2020 Prius Prime. I stumbled upon Kansei Wheels and the wheels that I wanted are 17x9 5x100 with a 35+ offset. Would these fit? Or is the wheel width and low offset combination never gonna happen on this car?
Maybe, but I wouldn't... The bigger question becomes what tire size would you use ? I ask this because there are no 17" tires that workout well, either you would be force to stretch a tire or run one that was too tall or short. Also consider looking into different 18" wheels. The tire size I would use is 225 / 45 R 17 and most likely use Michelin Sport A/S 3+. Have you experienced those problems with the tire sidewalls of 17" wheels? The only reason I chose 17" over 18" was due to the fact I could have a bigger side wall while trying to maintain an overall diameter close to OEM.
Also, the main reason I ask this question is due to the 9" width of the wheel. Is the width making the wheel poke out too much or even too close to the strut?
One of the reasons I said: "Maybe, but I wouldn't..." is because you are going well PAST the tire manufacturers mounting recommendation. You will need to Really Stretch a 225/45-17 onto a 9" wheel, some tire shops won't even do it. You also might be required to run a bit more negative camber to make it work, all of these things eat up the tire sidewall & MPG's faster. If it were me, I'd stick to a maximum of a 17x8" because it will fit & work great the first time. Rob43
Thanks. When you narrow things down a bit more, post up some of your top wheel n tire contenders with links. Rob43
I think I settled on some SSR GTV03 17x7 5x100 50+ SSR GTV03 Wheel Silver 17x7.0 5x100 50mm on some 225/45 17 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ https://m.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?message=singleSize&tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+A%2FS+3%2B+%28W-+or+Y-Speed+Rated%29&width=225%2F&ratio=45&diameter=17&cameFrom=selectSize&partnum=245YR7PSAS3PLXL

Your proposed package comes in at over $2000 dollars, you can do better IMO for much less. Take a look at these & see if anything catches your eye in a 17" wheel. //konigwheels.com/wheels/ Rob43
How about these? My only concern is the +30 offset. XT-206R Gun Metal w/ Machined Lip Wheel 17x8 +30mm 5x100 – Cosmis Racing Wheels USA
They look real good, but based on their ET, they should be a hard pass. The wheel will actually stick out past the fender by about ~15 to ~17mm's. Take a look at this comparison, the 17x7" ET35 wheel is my personal setup and my wheel is within mm's from the fender. A 17x8 ET 30 would definitely push out past the your fender by more than a 1/2" inch. On a 17x8" wheel, your ET should be about 45. I have found these that other Prius Prime owners are putting on theirs. I have not yet, but they look nice and have that darker chrome look that you had listed above (the SSR GTV03)... 17" Wheel - Toyota (PTR20-47010) These are actual TOYOTA parts.
