Hi everyone, Does anyone have a photo with the 86 wheels on a Gen 3 prius? I googled and haven't found one. These are the 86 wheels, not the FRS ones. Thanks!
They don't fit. You'll need spacers. I had the FRS rims with 5mm spacers. Still hit the caliper with the 86 wheels.
Tried to get these on with the spacer from Motorsport tech and it still hit the calipers. Gonna see if I can add another spacer or get a thicker one made to get it to fit and still have enough threads to be safe. Read somewhere that you can also possibly shave the caliper a little and get it to work.
No I wasn't able to get them to fit. I was all pumped to get them on. I put the car in D and it wasn't moving. I gave it more gas, scrape! I was scraping the caliper. I'd think you'd be fine with 8mm or even 10mm spacers. I was using 5mm.
Glad I saw this thread, was going to get a set at a good deal but changed my mind when realized the center bore is 56.1 instead of 54..1. I don't like hubcentric rings.... Corolla 17" with 54.1 center bore would fit better I think, have to look up the offset tho.. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I just got the 2019 Toyota 86 18” TRD rims. I have been experimenting with different spacers. So far the back are good with 20mm spacers with 56.1 to 54.1 hub centric rings. The front I was hoping to get away with nothing, but it needs spacers. I put 15mm spacers with the 56.1 to 54.1 hub centric rings. It will clear to drive but I don’t like the look of the front sticking out more. I just read 5mm won’t clear the brake caliper, so I’m going to try 10mm but extend the lugs. Hope it turns out better. The pics are shown with the 20mm setup in the back only. Also, FYI I am on Kyb shocks and TRD springs if anyone is wondering.
No front spacers, but the car can’t move. I will install the 10mm H&R spacers with extended lugs hopefully by this weekend. I installed 15mm spacers, but not liking the front sticking out more than the back in some angles. I’ll try to post some pics.
Was the used spacer that still hit the caliper a 3mm or 5mm? What size spacer did you end up using to clear the caliper?
I know this is an old thread but I'm glad I saw it, I just picked up a set of these wheels, I ordered 20mm and 10mm spacers as mentioned and I will run longer studs in the front.
Hello Everyone, I recently got a set of Toyota 86 wheels, looking to put on my Gen 3 Prius. What kind of TPMS Sensors did you use? The 86 has a newer style sensor for that wheel, can they be programmed for a 2015 Prius? Thanks
I also got a set of 86 wheels for my 2013 Gen3. They mounted good- although it appears I may need a hub adapter (56.1-54.1). I did not experience any rubbing so I am hesitant to buy any spacers- heard not so good things about them. I was unable to get the center caps in on the front though- the hub bolt sticks out slightly too far. I know a spacer would solve the problem. Just looking for another solution for a center plastic ring ♂️
