Cars: 2008 Prius and 2010 Camry hybrid Some time ago I bought a Midtronics HYB1000. I bought it with the expectation that I’d learn how to use it, and identify future problems with the hybrid batteries in my two Toyotas that are used as taxis. So far I’ve only used it to check for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). For both checking of trouble codes and hybrid battery analysis Techstream seems to do the same job. Is there any reason why I should keep it? Is there anything that the Midtronics HYB1000 does that Techstream doesn’t cover? Midtronics link: Hybrid Car Battery Tester – Midtronics HYB YouTube clip:
So it doesn't give any more/additional information? Do you still have it or use it? I'm trying to diagnose a P3000-388 problem I mentioned in another thread... Thx Frank
I've still got it. Useless thing. Techstream does the same thing, but for much cheaper. Thank you for reminding me - it's time to put the thing on eBay and see if I can get some money back. For everyone else: Get one eBay or http://www.aliexpress.com and do a search for "VCX Techstream".
