I bought a dash and rear cam combo from this IIewy company (going from my awesome pic memory). The mini USB to cig lighter isn't powering up the dash cam. I've replaced the car's #1 & 3 (15 amp) fuse without success. I used another mini usb cable to usb 2.0 port on my pc and it keeps the cam On. So its not the cam, its not the fuse, I reformatted the micro SD. it's the cable. I was thinking about swapping out the cig lighter cable for a hardwired version to the fuse box #1, using this: Has anyone resorted to this method? Btw, I also bought a 2 cig lighter to 1 cig lighter combo and attached the dash cam charger to it and it didn't work. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I was also thinking if I could use a mini USB to USB that attaches to my 5 amp usb cig lighter already? Since my spare mini USB to USB 2.0 worked off of my laptop. hmmm....

Did you ohm the fuses??? Mine I just bought, gen 3, cig/power below armrest wasn’t working, checked fuses, they were good... Put my meter in the plug, no dc voltage... Pulled plastic cover off the back of the console and had power... Went and got sand paper and scuffed up the inside of the lighter and bam, it worked...
nope, I didn't try or think to do that. I'm honestly afraid to try anything electrical on this hybrid. but it works, so until I have another issue I'll give that a try since you've given me kind of a step by step process. my current problem now is the dang suction cup. lol. i have to see about using my old gopro camera clamp and clamp it to my rear view mirror stem.
