Have a 2008 prius, 130k mi Codes pulled at auto zone: P1121 coolant control valve(just replaced a month ago and it came back) P1122 & p1123 Accelerator full close switch short & open Not finding much info on this? Main symptom is a number of warning lights (red triangle, vsc, brake) and after about 45mins driving the engine shuts off. Restarting the car resets it temorarily. Not HV battery, already been through that. P093A Inverter coolant system issue I replaced the inverter coolant pump a month ago to prevent this but alas it coded... CEL also on. I will likely replace coolant valve and pump again but I’m stumped on the accelerator issue. Maybe a Throttle Position Sensor? Or new pedal? Any ideas?
Have you tried running Torque Pro on your smartphone with an OBD2 code reader? Did the auto parts place clear the current codes out, to see if these same codes duplicate?
No and no, however the only code I had before is 1121, the rest are new codes, and considering the issues I’m experiencing, something IS wrong. Just not sure what to fix
On Prius cars, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1122 and P1123 have nothing to do with the accelerator. DTCs that begin with P1 and certain other prefixes (see my previous posting) are defined in the SAE J2012 standard as “manufacturer controlled,” and their meanings are not standardized. I imagine “Accelerator full close switch short & open” applies to some other vehicle. More importantly, don’t rely on the one-line “fortune cookie” (@ChapmanF's apt term) descriptions; the malfunction might not be in the part named there. I’d suggest using the step-by-step troubleshooting procedure in the Repair Manual (more info) for your car for DTCs P1122, Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit Low, and P1123, Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit High. DTC P093A isn’t listed in the Repair Manual; did you mean P0A93, Inverter Cooling System Performance?
Throttle body code may be because the throttle body has never been cleaned or lubricated and the butterfly is not moving smoothly. The other issues may be you did not get all the air out of the systems.
replaced coolant control valve and inverter pump. still have codes P1122 & p1123, I cleared them and they came back the next day. also now my heater blows ice cold air... seems it may be a clogged A/C coolant pump? anyone know where that is?
P1122: Coolant flow control valve (water valve) position sensor circuit range check (low voltage) P1123: Coolant flow control valve (water valve) position sensor circuit range check (high voltage) Although each DTC title says "Coolant Flow Control Valve", these DTCs are related to the water valve. DTC Trouble Areas 1 P1122 The water valve (Coolant flow control valve) Short in WBAD (valve position signal) circuit S Open in VC circuit ECM 2 P1123 The water valve (Coolant flow control valve) Open in E2 circuit VC and WBAD circuits are short-circuited Open in WBAD circuit ECM Read freeze frame data using Techstream (or another capable scan tool). Freeze frame data records the engine condition when the malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine If the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred. Here is the full diagnostic procedure for these two codes (three actually P1120 is there too.): DTC P1122 | Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit Low DTC P1123 | Coolant Flow Control Valve Position Sensor Circuit High Wasn't aware of an A/C coolant pump.
Did you try the add two hose on the two coolant bleeders to the top coolant tank to bleed the air out of the system? You said you have no heat Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'd say that looks like a Gen 2 Prius with a pair of clear hoses on it, one from the engine coolant bleeder on the radiator, the other from the inverter coolant bleeder on the front of the inverter, both running back into the inverter coolant reservoir, with a funnel stuck in the engine coolant filler neck, and the cap still on the engine coolant recovery bottle.
