is there way to change the trip meter and outside temp. to metric on the 06 prius like the speed. i cant seem to find it on my us model
I don't believe you can. My last car did, including odometer and MPG (both instantaneous and average), but it's only the speedometer on the Prius. Pity.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(hyo silver @ Sep 20 2006, 03:36 PM) </div> This is true. If only my beloved guv'ment had caved in to pressure to switch in the 70s when I was in school.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Proco @ Sep 20 2006, 01:00 PM) </div> I guess I'm just an Imperialist pig. Seriously, in France last year my rented VW said it was only 39 degrees outside, but it sure felt hotter than that to me.
I don't understand all these foreign weather reports that say it's 102 in the shade. Don't people spontaneously combust at that temperature?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(subarutoo @ Sep 20 2006, 03:24 PM) </div> There's a practical reason. In Canada, we use metric measurements. Our highway signs give distances in kilometres and our forecasts include temperatures in degrees Celsius. Across the border, our neighbors to the south use... ah, well, I suppose you'd call them American measurements. If you ever drive across our border, you'd find it easier if your speed, distance, and temperature indicators could be switched by a single button-press. And for us Canadians, we'd like the same button to switch things the other way for us. (As a soon-to-be Prius owner, I'm disappointed to find my new car won't provide that.) Blair
Spoke to my dealer three weeks back about the same issue, when I was in there programming a SKS fob. According to them, there's no way to change that, even with the scan tool that they have. I sure do wish I had the temp say celsius...
Blair and vkykam, The Canadian model shows all units in metric. The speedo will show either mph or km/h with the push of a button. Are you planning on getting/already have a US car?
<_< Quote: "...is far easier to understand than 'imperial'..." Actually, if you've lived your life in the U.S.A., metric is more difficult to comprehend. Where do you place the decimal point? It's what you have been taught much of your life.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Charles Suitt @ Sep 25 2006, 01:56 PM) </div> Can't say I agree with you Charles, I was born and raised in the US (and lived in England briefly where pints and gallons are different), yet I still can't remember off the top of my head how many ounces in a quart, or pints in a gallon for instance. If I'm down at the bar with friends, I often can't remember how many pints in my stomach, but that's another story. In metric it's all tens.
one time on my 05 prius the vehicle started to act weird, after i plugged in the ambient temp sensor, also due to hte fact that my 12 volt battery was low, but the MFD was showing celsius temperature rather than F, and i was suprised, i dont know hwo to reproduce this situation.
Not planning, but have already gotten. Picked it up in August: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...K%3AMERFB%3AIID It's just SOOOOOOO much cheaper to buy one in the U.S. of A. then up here in the Great White North. I'd figure conservatively a $5k-$6kCAD delta, plus a much wider availability/choice. I don't mind the hassle; the Prius is my 3rd US car in 6 years. I just turn it into a mini vacation when I go pick up the car, to make it worth my while. Victor <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(wilco @ Sep 24 2006, 04:50 PM) </div>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(wilco @ Sep 24 2006, 04:50 PM) </div> Actually, Wilco, I'm purchasing a US car from a Chicago dealer and bringing it to Canada. (Toyota's Canadian prices are higher, so even though the US model isn't exactly what I'd like and it takes extra work to bring it acrouss the border, there's a financial advantage in doing so.)

I cross the border a lot and have seen quite a few Washington dealer stickers on cars with Canadian plates lately in the border line-up.
