Rubber plugs installed at pre-delivery inspection?

Thanks to everyone, as this post was extremely helpful. I picked up the twin to @Gokhan 's car and discovered it had 50 psi in all four tires. I assumed the Redwood City dealer likely hurried it out the door and wondered what else they missed. The plugs are installed, although one was about to fall out, so I'm thankful that Prius owners on Priuschat are as obsessive as aircooled Porsche owner on Rennlist. We will miss the Mirai after three years, but happy to be on our third Prius. Please "like" my post so I can change my profile

 

Congratulations! I've been loving mine, and the Classic Silver Metallic color choice was the perfect one not only for the best looks but also for completely hiding dirt! You practically never have to wash the car.

Thanks everyone! That's indeed why we generally buy silver as well. We also have the moonstone interior after enjoying the white interior in a Tesla Model S.

@Raytheeagle, we loved the Mirai. Think of a Lexus build Prius with an electric range of 300 miles. It was heavy and quiet, and twice the price of a Prime, but it handled like a car twice as heavy as a Prius and Hydrogen supply was an issue these last few months in NorCal. We mostly drive around Palo Alto adjacent with occasional trips to San Francisco or Santa Cruz, so either is perfect for us.

 

Hydrogen supply and filling was my main question .

Out here in the East Bay / Solano county, there are only a couple of hydrogen stations.

But still saw a few up here.

The wife has a RX450h, so a Lexus hybrid isn't something I'm familiar with .

@Raytheeagle - We have a station in Palo Alto and there are many others in the Bay Area, so we generally didn't have a problem with filling up (it takes about 4 minutes vs. the P100D Model S which took about an hour at the supercharger for the same mileage). There was a refinery issue during the our last few months with the Mirai, so that took a few stations offline. That said, Tesla and Toyota are worlds apart in user experience. The Mirai was a quality built electric car. That's it. The experience was no different than one gets in a Prius. Our Mirai was seldom used - about 5,000 miles a year, so we tried it as an alternative to Tesla. The Prime we just got will serve us well but it will likely be replaced with a Model 3/Y in the next year. Toyota was pretty aggressive in keeping us as a customer, so the decision was easy based on economics. I'm curious as to how other folks use their Primes. We're likely 99% BEV use. I'm guessing that a tank of gas will last us a year.

 

OMFG, thank you all for this thread. Just picked up a Prime for my parents. Took 3+hr at the dealer… and found the rubber plugs in the glovebox, looked up this thread… and found no windshield washer fluid too. I have no idea why everything was so slow today but to take 3+ hr and not do the pre-delivery work is insane. We’ll see how they make it right tomorrow.

 

Got one on one side but not the other? weirdness
Anyone find a part #? Someone mentioned this is where you put car lift but not scissor. Does the plug come out to lift or it is never removed?

 

Those plugs needn’t come out when lifting; the holes are maybe for locator pins during shipping?

 

They had not done the PDS/PDI at all. Nothing. Thank you so much everyone here, especially @Elektroingenieur for the details on what to ask for (TSB, signed checklist, etc) and remind them to do.

2 more hours this morning, but it seems they actually did everything.

 

You should be thankful for that if you live somewhere cold. I had to waste all of the remaining Toyota washer fluid once winter hit, because it was basically just soapy water with nothing to keep it from freezing.

 

When I moved from California to New Hampshire all the wiper fluid, including going to the back window, completely froze during a couple week cold snap. Our garage is open air, and I had to find a heated garage to get things flowing again to even be able to replace the fluid. I was glad that there were no leaks/issues once it thawed out. Having said that, this car is going to live in NY and I'd guess the fluid will be charged, or at least all-season added, well before winter (or I'll add some now--good reminder).

 

You could also spike the summer blend in the car with rubbing alcohol.
Or denatured ethanol for sanitizing. Seeing that on sale.
Either is safer than the methanol usually in winter washer fluid.

 

Toyota does sell a freeze-protected (pink) fluid, at least up here.

 

The genuine Toyota windshield washer fluid is a freeze-protected concentrate with methanol. It sounds like the dealer cut the corner and didn't use the genuine Toyota windshield washer fluid.

Up here the dealerships sell a 4 liter Toyota premixed washer fluid, freeze-protected to -40. It’s a buck or two more than the lost-leader bottles at hardware store checkouts:

up here there’s a LOT of relabelled products, pretty much unintelligent volumes and weights, hard-converted from ozs (liquid and weight).
