My solution tomthe armrest problem was to construct these wood-frame topped with closed-cell foam armrests. The foam is held to the wood with double-sided carpet tape, and it has shifted slightly in 7 years of use.

The rear of the supplemental armrest is secured by carefully screwing the lower, underlying layer of wood into the rear part of the door’s plastic armrest.

The front of my supplemental armrest is secured by a small brass hinge that is screwed up into the lower wood plate and then bent down at 90 degrees and screwed into the rear of the door handle cavity.

All of the screws used in this assembly are short brass screws just long enough to penetrate and grip the plastic into which they are screwed.
    Cheers!

He sells armrests in 1/4" and 1/2" heights for the doors, and reupholstered center armrests with extra padding. The OP asked for creative solutions, and this is what I used.

I'm not affiliated with that company; but I had the same complaint as the OP and bought the armrests available on that site after finding out about them on another thread here. Worked fine for me.

I saw that. I need about three or four inches, not a fraction of an inch. And I looked to me like that's what the OP was looking for, too. But, with a Gen 3, maybe that is all he needs. Now that I think of it, I did't have this problem with my PiP or my Gen 2.
