Just wondering if software, other than infotainment, in the Prius Prime can be upgraded via WiFi, or other source, like the Tesla. I'm thinking of getting a 2020 Prius Prime and am curious about this. Also, I assume that Apple Carplay is offered with the newer Prius. Entune was all that was offered with the 2014 Prius I got and frankly it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Kept taking away apps.
Entune gets an update from time to time although they typically are downdates. The last few have removed features. In my 2018 it uses my iPhone's data (cellular or wifi) on the WAN side.
Yeah, I think Entune in regards to offering anything substantial has been abysmal. Still wondering if the 2020 Prius Prime Plugin has automatic updates... and I assume, offers Carplay.
The 2020 Prius Prime has Apple CarPlay, yes. Agreed on ENTUNE, it has been a big disappointment on my Tacoma. iPad ?
I’m not aware of any published information suggesting that such a capability exists. In general, Toyota’s software updates, for anything other than the navigation receiver assembly (radio head unit), are delivered using a Toyota Techstream diagnostic system connected to the DLC3 (OBD II) connector under the instrument panel. These updates aren’t done routinely, but only to correct specific problems, when specified by a safety recall, service campaign, or technical service bulletin.
Most likely this was from the entune app on your smartphone, not the safety connect connection. It only updates the entune apps.
