I was driving home on summer and the car shakes a little and came up red triangle , engine, and (!) Lights. So I started looking for cides but noting show up. I notice the gas engine never stop to make the change to hybrid so I look for solutions. I look at the coolant reservoir and it was calm with the car on, the water pump was damaged, so I replace it, but the lights were still on. I go to a mechanic looking for error codes and solutions and it show P0AFA P3013 P0A1F P3000. I search for answers and I clean the buzz bars of hybrid battery And again, I try to stars the cars, but it didn't and the ready light still was flashing so I look for error codes and it show P0301 cylinder 1 misfire, I clean the error codes and again look for codes and noting shows. The period of time with this problems is near a year. Some help Here please. The ready light looks like it didn't allow the car start, it is a constant symptom. Welcome to PriusChat!! How many miles/kilometers on the vehicle? What was the 12v reading at the front jump points under the hood? The OBD2 scanner that was used isn't hybrid compatible, or they failed to include the subcodes (INFs) with the above DTCs. Knowing the DTC and any related INF (subcode or 'detail code') can potentially isolate the problem in a more timely fashion. The workups are below, first take a look at the battery ecu connector and sensing wire loom for corrosion. Has it been raining recently, if not then try swapping the coil #1 with #2 and see if the DTC P0301 changes/moves. Ever replace the spark plugs? I look for videos and foros and found that the contact to battery is always related to the only functioning of the gas engine. Also found that the ecu conector was bad. I'll buy the parts on ebay and tell you how it goes. Thanks for your help. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I have a 2005 Prius with over 300k on it, it has stopped counting. But that's not my issue. I recently replaced my 12 volt battery. And now the car won't start, when I push the power button with out pushing the brake accessory comes on and I have radio and clock, when I push it again the prindle lights up for all or 2 seconds and then dies, the ready button is flashing amber, even pushing the brake the light never changes to green. I'm wondering if maybe the anti theft system may have been activated. And yes I do have brake lights when I push the brake. Sorry for the long post, but was trying to give all the details. Hello & welcome to PriusChat! How sure are you that the connections at the 12V battery are secure? I would connect a digital voltmeter to the jump start point at the underhood fusebox. Then watch the voltage reading while trying to start the car- see how low it goes. If that's ok you might need a capable scantool to check all the ecu's for codes- see the app review sticky thread at the top of the Technical discussion forum . Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I checked voltage at the battery, 12.39 volts. I then checked voltage at the fuse box jump start point12.39 volts. The I checked it while I pushed the start button, it dropped to 12.1 volts. Still waiting on a scanner to check for codes. One thing I did notice is that I have to have the key in the key slot to try and start the car, the door locks also will not lock , or inlock without pressing the unlock or lock button on the key fob
Okay, I found a fuse blown under the hood, am2. Any idea why this might have blown, and any idea how I get my keys to work again. I don't mind putting the key in the slot, but it definitely was more convenient to not have to use my key at all, either for locking or unlocking the car, as well as starting it. AM2 may blow via a failing inverter coolant pump (P0A93), when was the last time the pump was replaced? (mileage) Have you tried toggling the SKS button below/under the steering wheel?
The pump was replaced about 25,000 miles ago give or take, the odometer reached it's limit back in early April so I have to guess at that, usually the cooling pump gives me some warning before dieing.
I have found a step by step process to reprogram the key fob, just wondering if I should try this, don't want to make it worse
Hold off on the fob issue, unless the fob battery is depleted or needs replacing. Does the vehicle currently make ready/drive? Have you had a chance to replace the blown AM2 fuse, or read the OBD2 codes (DTCs) with a a toyota hybrid compatible scanner?
Not going to do anything until the reason for popping the AM2 fuse is resolved. Open AM2 fuse = 2005 Prius DOA
