My Prius not pass smog monitor not ready

    I have a Prius 2004 I buy very cheap with engine lights on, ok I fix the errors brake actuator , ok turn off the engine light, but I need pass I'm smog and not pass because monitor is not ready (oxygen sensor, evaporation system and catalyst) he say for me only drive the car , but I drive the car more than 5k and not ready..... somebody can help me? Thanks

    Do you have a problem with the 12v battery dying on you?

    do not . what happened and that sometimes when I turn off the car he dies. so I move on the battery cable and it works again, I already tightened the cables and now stopped doing it however I'm driving more than 5k miles and no monitor ready

    The emissions system not ready to test is a separate item of it's own.

    The only way that driving will fix that is:
    If that is the ONLY error code shown.

    If other codes are showing up too, you must fix them first.

    Every time your 12v drains and dies, it will reset your car. That means all the driving you did goes away. So you have to make sure the 12v battery doesn't die again. Or you'll go in circles and never have the car ready for testing.

    I don't have engine lights on or codes . How to test my aux battery? Maybe can be a problem in my ECU?

    I didn't think they had mandatory emissions testing.

    If it loses power and then gets it back by moving battery cable there has to be a bad connection there. And like JC91006 say as long as you keep losing power it will never go through monitors.

    So just fix the cable/connection and it should go through the monitors (or you get a fault code).

    I drove for 1k miles after fix the battery cables and not ready...

    Then you obviously didn't fix it.

    Read the techstream data and it will tell you the miles and time driven since the codes were last cleared. This includes 12v battery drops. if those numbers reflect your 5k-6k miles driven, then your problem is elsewhere.

    I suspect everyone else is correct. You have a bad 12v aux bus something. Either the battery itself is dead, or as you say the cable is loose. The fact that it is loose suggests to me it has been messed with. It also says that it hasn't been charging very often so it could be near dead. Replace it and do the job properly. If you keep skipping steps, you are just wasting time.

    Do you REALLY have mandatory testing ??

    If not and it runs good, don't worry about it.

    Yes I live in Richmond California , my car don't passed because monitor is not ready

    Did you fix it? I drove my more then 150 miles and its still.not ready

    You have to have mixed driving, not drive 150 miles highway speeds. I actually don't think all the systems have to be ready. Smog checks on the Prius is easy, as long as there are no lights on the dash, most places will pass it.

    When I smithed our 2010 several years ago, I did the egr circuit and disconnected the 13 volt battery. Then went to the smog shop which was about 45 miles away.

    The only system that didn't reset was the evap system, and that was fine.

    Might it be something else?
