Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum but I’ve had my 2012 Prius level 5 for several years now and love it. Recently the driver side “brow” light went out. As y’all know the level 5 has the auto leveling lights. The one that is out is the “swoosh”, “brow” light located just above the low and high beams. Obviously I don’t know what the official name of the light is....is it considered a side marker?...park light?...Anyway...it’s out and I’m wondering if it uses a bulb or is it some special led strip. Any help would sure be appreciated! Thanks, Kevin
Hi Vman and thanks for the quick response. Sorry for my delay in answering your question. The entire strip is out. Any thoughts given that info? Is it repairable at all?
That helps narrow down the problem--if it was just part of the strip that was out, it would likely be one or more individual chips that had burnt out. But since it's the whole strip, it's probably a malfunction in the controller, the box that's screwed in under the headlight. If you're mechanically apt enough to remove the headlight yourself (it's not hard, but you do have to unfasten the top part of the bumper cover), the computer itself is easy enough to replace; just four screws to remove it, unplug, plug in the new one, make sure the gasket is fitted correctly, and refasten the four screws. This is the part you'll probably need, the Control Module 81107-47380. Before replacing that, however, check the wires to the headlight and, if you can pull it off the car, any of the wires you can see inside it to see if any are stripped, broken, etc. It might be as simple as a broken wire, but I suspect the computer.
