    The link on that website indicates that the tray is NOT compatible with 2019 Prius hatchbacks. So it would probably might not have worked with Mambo Dave's (the OP's) 2019 vehicle.

    Should work with your 2016.

    Does that replace the tray that comes with the car or does it fit inside it ?

    So the one I ordered seemed to indicate 2016 through 2018 as well, IIRC. Little things don't usually change, but sellers often forget to update or researching listings from initial releases. I took the chance, and it works.

    I could not use the one with the red-outlined inserts only because I need that space underneath the tray for larger items. The best thing would be if the trays had molded-in little grab-handles, as I'm in and out of it often, and want to be able to lift the tray up, evenly and in some way level, to get to whatever I have stored underneath it.

    Perhaps I'll look into creating some center-grab-piece and try to super-glue it to the divider between the trays.

    Took delivery of this tray today. Exceeded expectations! Not only does it fit pretty well into the center console, but it leaves plenty of room underneath it to store a couple of large items (glasses case and pen/pencil case). In addition, when the new deep tray is in place, the original small shallow tray fits directly on top of it and the lid closes without issue. So three layers of storage!
