Seat Protector

on my04 Gen 2 I used Beach Towels. Folded over one end, put headrest poles through it. Got got qty $6 towels, Then i traded in the car 10 years later the Gray seats looked factory new.

I do not have cloth seats but have done the same thing with MY16 level 4

 

With things like that I can't help wondering about the effect on deployment of the side airbag, which bursts out Alien-like from the upholstery of the seat back....

I'm late to the party but I just bought a 2016 Prius and I got one of these to try. I don't want the precision fit seat covers but hate the cheap look of the generic ones. I really just want to protect the light tan of the seats and this could be just right and a great price point. I got one and I'll get another and maybe some of the other car if I like them. Thanks for the idea.

 

I hope that you realize that you could NOT have gotten leather seats in a Prius. That's never been an option. Rather the "plether" seat coverings are something that Toyota calls Softex. That plastic material feels like leather, but weighs less than leather, therefore saving fuel.

I'd say I'm pretty focused on trying to keep my interior looking nice.
But I've found that the modern cloth seat interiors are pretty durable and very cleanable.
I use an additional seat cushion mostly just for comfort. But it also protects the seat bottom. And in my Honda Fit? I've found after nearly 4 years, the seat looks pretty good.
I transported cat that chewed it's way out of the cat carrier, and did a scene in the back seat that made the worst of the Exorcist look tidy. And I was after several hours of hard work, able to restore the back seats to looking great.

In short, I like cloth seats.
And my approach now, is just to use them, clean them, and only start to worry, when I feel they do start looking bad. Which so far? Is just not now.
I can always buy covers in the future when and if, I feel they are of benefit.

 

I've never understood the concept of (protective) seat covers, unless you want to cover up seats that you don't like or are ashamed of. IMO if you like what you have then show them, don't protect them for some future owner.
