Double Standard for Toyota?

    More evidence of the continued "special treatment" Toyota receives form the American Press. What page would you thhink this news would be on if execs at GM were systematically hiding recall info or the head of GM was embroiled in a sexual harassment scandal.
    As Americans, maybe you should consider why there is such a double standard fot Toyota? Or maybe Toyota is just the master at manipulating the American Press? I guess this is why Toyota can claim "job creation" and the media never questions exactly how many jobs Toyota is creating in a net way or what they are really doing to the American economy.

    Of course it has to be a conspiracy. I mean, if it can't be explained from the inside, it must've come from the outside in the form of a foreign company manipulating YOUR press.

    It's on Fox, isn't that part of the American Press? I remember plenty of articles on the Prius recall, etc., too. I certainly don't perceive a double standard, but your perceptions may vary.

    How many articles have been printed about the Toyota execs doing jail time for trying to prevent a recall? How many about the people injured because of those execs?

    When it was Ford with the Explorer rollovers, people couldn't get enough. This is the exact same thing.

    If these were execs at Ford or GM these stories would be huge. Why are they not with Toyota execs? That is my problem.

    Think about it. The head of GM, Rick Wagoner in sexual harrasment suit after trying to cover it all up. That story would be everywhere.

    Or how about production execs trying to cover up safety recall info and doing jail time for it? The US media wouldn't care? The same US media that was covering GM's impending bankruptcy only several months ago.

    I'd actually seen them both several times... "Toyota" is one of my google news alert keywords, though, I see articles about Toyota nearly every day, among other subjects I'm interested in.

    can we help you somehow? Maybe compile a list of contact info of executive directors of every media outlet in the US, so you can write to them or maybe even visit them personally to explain this to them. How can we help?

    Why? I don't remember any stories about any car executive being the big news you think it may be. Can you remind me of some. Maybe when DeLorean got busted for financing coke dealing? I'm drawing a blank on much of anything else though.

    I think we'd all like that, Malorn, but I honestly don't expect it to happen anytime soon. From what I read from several international sources, most 'news' outlets seem to be equal opportunity mud slingers.
