Hello. Is anyone using the prolong charger/reconditioner with a battery replacement from newpriusbatteries? I was about to order a new battery set and had the charger already and planned to switch the wiring harness from the oem battery to this new build.
I would check with them but I don't think you want to charge newer batteries I have the new battery.... and sold my prolong equipment.
You can put the harness on, but you won't need to use it for a good bit of time. @2k1Toaster 's kit will last for a good bit of time. But keep the equipment as it never hurts to have it.
I'm assuming the NPB kit uses 8mm nuts like the OEM battery, so you wouldn't need to modify the Prolong harness?
Why the hell would you do that? I installed a NPB set about 2 months ago its a brand new battery runs perfect. You should not have to prop it up with a charger for years and years. Thats the whole idea its a new battery lol.... Sell that Prolong Charger big market for that I sold mine for $400 on ebay and it was the first one they made with the light bulb sockets on a board had like 100 views and 40 watchers and 25 bids. It was hot. Sold for more than it cost.
Some people do the same with the 12v battery; replaced with a new 12v battery and buy a slow charger to make sure it doesn't fail on them again on their daily driver. Seen those post many times in here.
Entirely different situation. The "prolong charger" stresses the battery......outside it's normal operating range. A 12 V battery tender keeps it in the "sweet spot" of it's normal operating range. If it indeed is a "daily driver", then a battery tender is not necessary but won't do any harm.
