2010 rear lights went out at same time license light went out. I changed #30 fuse (10 amp), but no help. I removed entire assembly but it is sealed together and I cannot get to rear bulbs. The manual says if rear lights go out, I must take to dealer, but I cannot afford prices I see quoted to have dealership repair. I just replaced the front light assemblies 2 months ago and the right high beam keeps going out since I've been working on the rear lights? I have turn signals and brake lights, but read on forum that they aren't related to rear running light problem. Pleaseee, someone who's fixed this problem tell me what to do.
I have an 05 prius - middle running and left running ( which i had put an LED assembly into) not working, right running light is working (incandescent) .. i took the 12 LED assembly (middle) out (which is a bit of a pain to dislodge the hatch pannel to get to the connector), otherwise 2 phillips screws, i tested this assembly low voltage then at 9v saw all lights were on good .. fuse panel under hood not helpful but the one under the dash , with your head on the floor and your back contorted , (reading glasses and flashlight prob good to use here) -- tiny fuses, not sure if blakcened or good ... ... .. what could be causing the lack of power to the middle running light ?
You supplied 9V to the assembly and it worked? Did you check voltage at the connector the assembly plugs into?
Not meant as an insult but............... Are you sure that the headlights are in the ON or PARK position when you are testing the tail lights ? Could be a bad switch or associated wiring. Also could be a bad ground back by the lights.
I did not check V at con. -- i reattached, connector makes nice 'click' when closed (for what that's worth) headlights: turn one click (this is the 'running / day driving lights' position) - yes vehicle in P position because how else am i gonna see it without a 2nd person ? turn 2 clicks (this is the night time driving lights position aka headlamps)e could be a bad switch / wiring - could be a bad ground - did i mention that many year ago i installed a trailer wiring kit (that' always helps your OEM lights function better ha) - pretty sure it is discon right now though I also noticed 1 of the 2 license lights is out /non-functioning , i think those are about 2.5w and the side running lights are 5W , if not mistaken, - replacing these bulbs with LED's is nice while it lasts, but u dont seem to get too many years, and they are very high $ cost . the rear middle (12 LED array) does function for breaking, that you can see at night , so i presume wiring going to that light is ok, and in running position it gets less V to make dimmer for nighttime accent.
Or it lights a seperate set of bulbs. IF you are talking about the "high mounted" rear lights, that is for braking ONLY and should not light with the parking/tail lights. Then.....the parking/tail lights (or running lights as you seem to want to call them) are NOT supposed to come on with the DRL headlights. If there really is a DRL position on the switch then the rear lights should not be on in that position.
