One of the Garmins I use has 12 or 14 year old maps and I like to use it when travelling.
I am keenly aware that roads may have changed and use it like a back-in-time device. Often I see where the old was that got replaced by the new road and how the neighbourhoods evolved.
    Just another layer of sightseeing.

With the huge building boom going on here, that would be really interesting!

I have checked with multiple dealers regularly includin a few days ago as well as Toyota Corporate. They obviously just don't care. There is no update available for this 3 year old map database. 2017 Prius Prime Advanced.

    LG-H932 ?

Toyota’s Navigation Map application chart (PDF) from January 2019 says the update for the 11.6-inch head unit (ID numbers E7051 or E7052) has part number 86271-GN8PR-18.(※) Have you tried ordering that part?

Even if it’s available, I’m not sure I’d buy one now, except at a deep discount. It’s been nearly a year since that version (18.1) was released on January 22, 2019, and I imagine another update will be available soon.

(※) For models with the 7-inch head unit (ID number 5100xx), the part number is 86271-0E071.

EDIT: Whoops. @Elektroingenieur beat me to it.

You may have to change your dealer if they can't place an order for you. AFAIK, the latest version of navi map data for 11.6 inch unit (Premium and Advanced) is 86271-GN8PR-18. Which presumably came out in 2018.
Nav Msd Card V.18.1 - Toyota (86271-GN8PR-18) | Toyota Parts

I am sure that is the map data which came on 2019 models of PRIMS, but I am not sure if that is the case with 2020 models. I think 2017 models either have 2016 86271-GN8PR-16, or 2017 86271-GN8PR-17 map data. Either way, you are not likely to gain much more accuracy by updating your unit with already 2 years old data, and I have read somewhere that the map data is maybe 1 year old by the time it makes to Toyota dealer, so in reality, 2018 map data maybe 3 years-old data.

FYI, look at openmapchest.org. I've used the maps to make an old Garmin new again.

I wonder if that is the same version as currently available 86271-GN8PR-18 map data version?

Anyone who has installed 86271-GN8PR-18 data onto your car?

Updated maps available on eBay for $34.00.
    I got one delivered today.
Just popped out old one and installed new. WITH IGNITION OFF.
Turned on and followed simple on screen instructions.
Update takes about 5 minutes. Now my 2016 Prius has the latest maps.

    Information about my Prius garage.
    Owned:
2008 4 Touring (my wife drow It ) Sold with 46,000 +- on it
    2006 3 Sold with 182,000 on it.
2013 3 Head gasket blown @ 213,320 replaced myself with the help of YouTube. Sold at 2016,00+.miles on it
2016 4 Touring 40,200+- now (my wife drives it)
2019 LE got 8,000+ on it

    To summarize....
Gen 2 is the best for reliability but lower MPG Will need to replace few battery cells after 130,000 if not driven daily.
Gen 3 Much better MPG but poorly designed Intake manifold and EGR cooler. If using lower quality gasoline huge chance of blowing the head gasket after 140,000. Good gas 215,000.
If you clean manifold and EGR system you can’t kill it.
Gen 4 love both for active cruise control and line departure but not enough time/ mileage to make conclusions about reliability.

Just so that people on this thread who own PRIUS PRIME don't end up wasting money, the part number you posted Toyota Part No.: 86271-35012 is not compatible with PRIUS PRIME 2017-2019. It may have worked on your wife’s is 2016 4 Touring, but not on PRIME according to Toyota.

It’s the head unit (navigation receiver assembly), not the car, that determines compatibility. Fourth-generation Prius and Prius Prime cars built for sale in the U.S., if equipped with navigation, come with one of two series of head units, one made by Panasonic with 6.1-inch displays, and another made by DENSO with 11.6-inch displays. Both use map updates on microSD cards, but the cards for one series don’t work with the other.
As much as it would be helpful if it were so, parts.toyota.com isn’t necessarily the last word. It’s produced for Toyota by a third party, SimplePart, and their interpretation of the applicability information in the Electronic Parts Catalog issued by Toyota in Japan leaves something to be desired. They need to re-read the part of the manual about how『オプション違い部品の一品番絞込み』works, I think.

See the application chart I linked in post #24, and use the face plate number (ID number) only, not the model name. For example, in an older Prius Prime Plus car with a Panasonic 510053 head unit, the 86271-0E071 (now, apparently, 86271-0E072) card would work, though it wouldn’t work in a Prius Prime Advanced with a Denso E7051 or E7052 head unit.

That's exactly what I said in post #18, too.

I got an updated MicroSD card as a condition for the purchase of my 2017 and all they asked for was the number printed on the bottom right of my display (11.6")

Thanks for the lengthy explanation. Just to point out, your linked pdf in post #24 does not seem to show information on the Prius Prime Plus car with a Panasonic 510053 head unit.

You might also want to address your comments to @chenderson2 instead to point him in the right direction to find the right parts for him. I have no intention to spend money on updating OEM navi map data in my Prime. I don't use it often enough, and when I need up to date map data, I will use my Garmin instead.
