Ok, I followed the manual near as I can tell.... When I go to the driver door, using the smartkey, the door unlocks and I can get in. Great, except, I want ALL doors to unlock. Reading the user guide, his can in fact be done. Supposedly, you press the LOCK and PANIC buttons at the same time (and hope the panic doesn't go off!) and wait 5 seconds when supposedly some beeps will be heard changing the mode. Never beeps! So, I can't seem to change the mode. Manual says hybrid system off, it is. I am outside the car. What is the trick I am missing?
I just did it. Car off, door closed, I locked doors with button on door. On the fob, I pressed and held lock, then pressed and held panic together with lock. I held until I got the requisite 2 beeps. Tried door lock/unlock, it didn't seem to work. I repeated fob button procedure, got the same 2 beeps. I held buttons for a little longer after the beep just to be sure. This time, it worked! So, either I didn't do it right the first time, or you have to do it twice to get to mode 2 (all doors unlocking). Thanks for asking this question, this was something I've wanted but didn't know I could change it. I did actually read the manual cover to cover when I first got the car, but obviously I've forgotten a few details. It's on page 32 of the 2006 manual for those who are interested.
Perhaps the trick is/was you also have to be CLOSE to the car. I ASSUMED you should be farther away so as to not trigger the smart unlock. So, since it worked for you, figured I'd try again and it DID work this time! Also, you said you hit lock THEN panic. I kinda of hit them both at the same time, maybe that was part of it also. Thanks to you as well!

Additionally, you only trigger the smart unlock when you're hand is on the door handle, triggering a sensitive trigger on the inside of the handle, so you can be as close as you want without worrying about that feature.

So you are in Mode #1, Steve.... ...and the manual does say to hit push lock and panic button together for about 5 seconds and to do it with the hybrid system off. Did you doing this after you unlocked only your door and then again, after you unlocked all doors (by opening passenger side)? Mine wasn't set at all when I picked up the car....a couple of LI club members set it up for me in mode one...the system was Powered on, though, to do it and then they had to push the key button on the panel below the steering wheel. I wanted Mode #1, so I don't want to mess with my set-up now... Let us know if you get it ...hopefully, someone with more experience and knowledge will help out here... terri
