There doesn't appear that anyone has an opinion on new options for LED headlight conversions. You might have to be the test subject.
I just replaced the hid bulbs. Found some original Philips for a good price. Couple companies made it sound like the hid was a problem. I'm sure it could be done, I just didn't want to buy and try. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Don't think there is a direct LED replacement available for HID. I wanted to convert my HIDs to LEDs but looks difficult.
Plenty of options for halogen just not hid. Don't understand why though. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Just upgraded the wife’s 2012 halogen low beams to 12,000L Katana LEDs, and the high beams to 6,000L Sealight LEDs. They seem to work great BUT, curiously the engine ran while idling a couple times despite the batter showing near full charged, and the car was warm. Should I be concerned the LEDs (and fans on the low beams) are sucking power requiring the engine to run when it typically wouldn’t?
I just did a LED install on my 2006 Prius with no hiccups. I used the following: 1. KOOMTOOM Mini Led Bulbs H4 Hi Lo Headlight Kits, 9003 HB2 Led Headlight Bulbs 5000K CREE Led Chip 360 Degree Beam Pattern 55W 8000Lm 1 Year Warranty. Purchased from Amazon for $30.99 with free prime shipping. See: 2. XtremeVision LED Anti Flicker Capacitors - Error Code Canceller Capacitor (1 Pair) - H4 / 9003. Purchased from Amazon for $13.99 with free prime shipping. My understanding is that only PRE 2007 Toyotas require the capacitors. See: I am very happy with the new LED headlights. Only negative is that light does NOT scatter like halogen bulbs. Making it difficult to read street signs (say seven or eight feet off the ground) at night as the light does not scatter the way that the halogen bulbs did.
Two pics showing difference in height of LED headlights. Low beam versus high beam. See attached pics. First pic is high beam and second pic is low beam. PS bulbs are 5000k (no blue - pure white). And, I have not received any messages (either, verbal or non-verbal) from other drivers that bulbs are too bright or otherwise blinding them.
