Toyota released an Entune update 12-6-2016 for some models. For those models, it is said it is free within 36 months and 36k miles. Anyone have it for the v or know if there was one for the v series? Was it map data or program functionality?
I can't imagine it is for map data. Its my understanding Toyota charges big bucks for map updates. More than likely its for program functionality. I have not received an update for our car but will check the current version later today.
there's a thread with the self download for upgrade. It didn't work for me as the USB stick wasn't recognized. I still have the file but can't find the thread
For the life of me I can not figure out how to check the version of Entune installed onboard the car. I can check the iPhone app version easily enough but not the onboard car version. Hmmm...
Where do I find the download link and the instructions to do so onto my 2013 Prius v Trim 5? The maps coukd definitely use an update or better yet also allow a way for Google Maps to be used in it instead. There has been a few times I had to totally wing it due to maps old, construction with road closures, and the car GPS only knew that one road from all choices (short, preferred, and alternative?). SM-N910V ?
Just completed my Entune's update from 3.2 to 5.2 version. The update is specific to your vehicle. It can be found here, Toyota Downloads I downloaded the zip file, unzipped the contents into a blank USB, and plugged the USB in the car. I was very nervous after reading all the posts about the update going bad. However, I followed the instructions step by step and it worked fine. Make sure your car is running when doing this update. I almost made the mistake to start the update just with the radio on. Takes between 5 to 10 minutes. Screen shuts off for a few seconds couple of times during the installation. Just be patient and wait until the installation progress animation is displayed again.
The Toyota download link was SUPER helpful. I called the dealership and service dept and NO ONE had a clue about how to fix my Bluetooth problem. The icon on the unit was "grayed" out and I was unable to use Bluetooth for my iPhone. When I learned about a possible update, I found the link above, downloaded the link to a flash drive, followed the instructions and it restored the Bluetooth function button!! Thanks so much for your help!!! By the way, I own a PRIUS V 2015.
Hi. I am going through the same problem with the same car and same year. Can you send me the link to the file you've downloaded or the file itself because it is not available on the site anymore.
When I enter the Toyota Downloads page and select, 2015 Prius V without navigation, there are no updates shown. Am I to assume that there has never been an update?
That would seem to make sense since Entune Audio on the 2015 Two doesn't have the App Suite. The only changes I've noticed after Entune updates on our 2012 with navigation have been new apps, the deletion of apps and the renaming of apps.
On a '12 with Nav I noticed a faster update when navigating and the car was faced with a series of very quick turns, one after the other. My initial load would get the first turn and only the second turn after I had passed it by by 50 yards. After the update which came about '13 IIRC the response in this situation was quicker and I would have a bit of warning enough to make the second turn.
I was hoping that there may be an update to solve a problem with the touchscreen freezing. I am not sure what causes this problem but it seems to happen more often in warmer weather although we generally use the air conditioning in those conditions so the screen would never be in extreme heat. The steering wheel control and the buttons next to the screen continue to work after the screen freezes. If I shut the car off and restart it, the touchscreen functions begin working again.
I'm guessing there have been around 10 "over the air" updates to the Premium Nav/Entune system that was included in the Advanced Tech package on our 2012 Prius v Five. Several updates have broken Entune - one for several months without a fix. The only "improvement" in any of the updates was the additional of the Slacker music app except I don't like Slacker and don't use it. I certainly didn't miss when "Open Table" and the movie ticket apps were deleted but I was very disappointed when the Pandora app was deleted since I used it whenever I drove wife's Prius. One of the updates a year or two ago renamed Slacker to LiveXLive and and earlier one renamed Bing Search to Destination Search. I was surprised when Entune on the Prius was updated still again about two months ago since I thought Toyota was "done" messing with the original Entune. That update broke Entune for about a month and then another update got it working again. I had great hope for Entune when it first came out - even bought a smartphone that could run the Entune app - but it has turned out to mostly being a POS.
I had a similar problem when we bought our v in 2015- your description sounds spot on including the heat issue. After three trips, the dealer eventually applied some update that took care of it. A co-worker bought a v about the same time as me and had a similar problem with the same resolution. I think this was discussed in Prius chat, you might try looking for it- I'm not in a good place to dig through old threads at the moment..
Here it is- it is a long thread. Some of the early reporters got their unit replaced. They eventually came up with a software update that worked for me without having to replace it. It's been fine since. Prius v (lowercase v) Touch Screen | PriusChat
