Here’s some pics of the old spark plugs. It took me 1 hour to do it myself. Easy job glad I got it done.

What’s the actual mileage on those plugs?

    What’s your lifetime mpg?

And most importantly: what do for a living, pull nails with your bare hands?

I'm pushing 70 and my pinkies look all smooth.

Wow. Already? I have at least 5 years to go, but good to know it's easy DIY.

    A workin man;).

I sit around a table or at my desk most of the day:).

Not a bad gig, but it isn’t always peaches and cream(y).

Hands are old. But I am 43, Lol. I have 95,000 miles on them. I only had to remove the larger windshield wiper. It’s easy to remove the wiper. Took me 1 hour to complete.

here is the link to a short video I just uploaded on YouTube.

    Thanks for the video:).

    What’s the lifetime mpg:whistle:?

Haven’t looked in the manual in awhile, but the gen3 plugs were to be changed at 120k miles. Is it the same in the Prime and if so, any reason for changing them early?

Hope the drive afterwards didn’t show any issues(y).

life time MPG is 63. I charge 1-2 times a day but have long drives. No issues so far. If there’s any problems will update. I always like to stay on top of replacing my plugs. No issues. Just wanted to get it done and over with. Transmission fluid change is my next big project. I need this car to last at least 300k

The trans drain and fill isn’t bad at all;).

Getting the car up to work on it is the biggest challenge:cool:.

I changed the trans fluid in our 2019 Prime at 4 k miles and will do the same somewhere around 50-60k miles most likely:).

    I’m a piece of mind guy myself(y).

Great idea to put the wrap of tape on the extension so the socket stays attached instead of sticking on the plug. By the way, if you ever need to use a universal socket and the universal it too floppy, a wrap of tape around it can make it more controllable.

Only 1 hour? That's a lot better than on my 2013 where it seems you've got to do a lot of disassembly just to get to the plugs.

Plus one on taping the spark plug socket to the extension. Especially with a new socket with real grippy rubber insert: torque the spark plug carefully, pull up, see the socket's still down there, and the only thing to do is to back it out.

wow those are some really oily plugs. Is this normal for Prius? I have never seen plugs out of Prius but all the ones I have done in the past never came out in that color.

Hmm... I thought the electrodes actually looked pretty decent, not carbon fouled or burnt. As a thrifty old gear head (translation: cheap SOB shade tree mechanic), I've cleaned, re-gapped, replaced compression washers and re-used worse looking plugs.

Yes the electrodes do look pretty good. It's brownish stain in the threads I am a bit puzzled about, looks like a good bit of oil was deposited there.

Plugs are looking good, only minor wear and deposits. There is no oil. When there is oil, it doesn't dry up -- it stays wet on the threads.

I stand corrected. It is 120k. That 150k is for a PZEV. I’m at 83k. Got some time to go. Lol
