Brought my 05 home with 224k and a full tank of fuel from the auction. Drove 319 miles and filled up to full from 2 bars of gas. Car took 6.4 gallons before reaching full. 49.85MPG in freezing weather with low psi leaking tires!
Ha. Your story sounds like mine, with my 2007 that I just recently sold. Purchased it for $2k, had 212k miles. Sat in a garage for about a year, 12v battery dead. Put new 12v in, drove it home, was getting 59mpg on the highway!! Next morning, check tires, they are shot, but all had around 26psi in them. Kept the car for about 8 months, sold it to a friend who I converted and bought my 2015 Four with 14k miles, making my Prius Four my Fourth Prius! hehe
@PriusGuy32 hey interesting, I suspect my 12v may be dead as well...I had the car parked at an airport for a week after using it for about a month. Now my radio won’t turn on at all? Did you notice any other oddities before replacing yours?
Well, I did not notice any oddities because I had to replace the 12v with a new one just to be able to drive it home; buuuuut in my past experiences and being my second Gen 2, I would not be surprised if it were somehow related to a marginal/dying 12v. I purchased my 12v at O'Reilly's Auto with a family members discount. I would've preferred a Genuine Toyota replacement but it was a deal I could not pass.
Progress on the current tank in sub 30 degree weather. Car seems to be doing great for nearly a quarter million miles knock on wood. Last tank was 361 miles, averaged only 45mpg with a lot of short trips.
Filled the tank up with a solid 1 bar and here’s how far it went! I’m amazed with how well this car runs. Heres the receipt snap, calculated 51.36mpg, this car killed it. Not even 8.5 gallons for 433 miles, I’m impressed.
