Last I checked it (Toyota full module) was 1553euro (includes all taxes). Which is about 1720US$ at todays rate. I can order it and pick it up at the Toyota dealer (little over 10 miles away).
Even if Toaster could ship it to me for that amount (1600 + totally made-up shipping of 120$ to the Netherlands), it would be hit with importcost (3-4.5% for carparts) and 21% tax over module-cost, shipping and importcost.

(Assuming the imaginary 1720$: 1720+3% importcost=1771$. 1771$ + tax (21%) = 2143$)

Maybe I can buy it in the US and smuggle it back in my suitcase...

Nope, and you wouldn't want to be mixing the odd new module in with your collection of old modules.

There's a very good reason Toyota only will change out all the old modules and replace them with all new modules. When your brand and reputation is on the line, you don't want to be monkeying around with it. Change them all and be good for another 10-15+ years.

 

Doesn't look like Toyota or anyone else sells individual modules except for used on eBay. Guess I will have to see what toaster can do and maybe hook me up with a nice setup.

 

There should now be a few customers who've run on these batteries for two years. Are there any issues reported yet?

 

Yeah, I'm not interested in just buying a few new modules I would like to get all 40 new. If I have to replace just a few I will buy used and cycle them like I'm doing with the ones that I currently have.

 

From what I've read through out this forum it looks like everyone's pretty happy with the product that toaster is offering.

 

Panasonic Primeearth makes the modules for Toyota and only Toyota sells new ones. They only sell then in new vehicles or as replacement packs.

I had the same concern as yours. I found that 2' x 4's really helped with Levering and sliding the battery pack in and out of the car. The most difficult part for me was flipping the pack (module screws). That was the only time I needed help.

Being almost 60, keeping the height of the HV pack waist-high made it easier for me to grab & carry from my Sears Workmate, to the 2' x 4's and just slide it back into the car.

 

I don't mean to make your decision more difficult, but Toasters alternative really is more efficient than Toyotas. You remove all of that ventilation tubing and allow much better airflow and the temperature management is so much better with cylinder cells.

 

Anyone ever ordered original replacement modules from yesa technology on the Alibaba website? Looking for options.
