Dear Santa, Can we have a subforum for Prius-as-shelter? For folks who are living in their cars for one reason or another? Sure, there are appropriate forums for discussion of the diagnostics and repair of different models and years, and more general forums for advice, but I think we can do better. When somebody is living in their car, it changes a lot of things. Some of the more ordinary options for repair aren't available, but other novel approaches are. It speeds up the works if everyone in the discussion understands that the car isn't just transportation to the folks posting. I'd like to see a section of the site held out for those who need to live in their Priuseses, and to exchange tips and receive help while offering the casual browser context and awareness. I'm making this request after having read this CNN article. Housing is problematic in some places and a full blown crisis in others. The Toyota Prius we all enjoy for its thrift and eco benefits is uniquely talented in the role of overnight shelter and I'd like to see it even better supported for those who need it the most. Thank you for reading! Leadfoot J. McCoalroller P.S. I'm still waiting for that GI Joe with the kung-fu grip
Yes please... I hope to never have to live in my Prius, but it's a huge time saver to sleep in it on long drives at rest stops and I have lots of ideas to share.... PriusChat has a rapidly increasing number of new posts from people who are living in a Prius... Homelessness is on the rise and no signs of letting up and we really do need a place where they can share ideas so other sub- forums don't get hijacked with their many questions that aren't related to usual Prius questions.
PS: I'd be happy to go though the website with an optimized search engine tool and mark all the posts related to car camping so it's easy for the owner/moderator to move the best posts to that forum... I suspect this new subforum could create new traffic/ad revenue stream....
Non-holiday bump. I put this request up when most people were well into their holiday break. So I'm bumping it again now that everyone is theoretically back, dried out, rested up, etc etc.
Prius Dwellers #hotelprius | The blog about living life out of a prius and the adventures and life lessons along the way. as usual reddit beat you bro it.
Yep - it can be hit-&-miss. As for living in my car, I'd druther it'd be another Room to stretch out Grandfathered on free fuel .... Web browser built into the UI, so I could keep abreast of what's going on with PC. No worries about the cash for the next Oil Change .
no no no ... aren't we talking about homeless? who have to live in their car? ya got no garage. If we're talking practicality, you want to be able to hold 1 or 2 shopping carts worth of junk, & with a car having 2 trunks, as well as lots of room when the rear seats are down - just jump through the hatch with your sleepung bag bed made .... you're good to go. All you need to do is spend the night at one of those truck stops that has showers, so you don't end up getting way too ripe ..... end up stinking up your car. Or are we also talking camping. Presuming one is on Hard Times? Ah yes the good old days - when homeless we're just hobos. Maybe most here are too young to remember Rodger Miller romanticizing the simple life. .
Many Thanks! @PriusCamper looks like it's live now thanks to @Tideland Prius. I'm not sure what your tagging idea entails but I think this means it's ready for that phase!
