After adjusting the tire pressure on my prius; holding the middle button on the steering control as the dashboard instruct in order to reset the TPMS does nothing. the message displayed is still the same "hold to reset TPMS". I've tried holding for more than 5 mins and still nothing. any idea what's the issue?
Apparently there are 8 memory slots in the TPMS system, you may be on the other set and it can't find them. I found the following info on how to change to the other set, it might be worth a try. 1. start car 2. go to settings --> tpms menu 3. Press select button 3 times, the tpms light starts blinking, wait for the blinking to stop. 4. Make sure you have the right tyre pressure. 5. Press long on the button (set pressure normally), tpms starts blinking, wait for it to stop. 6. Voilá, you are now on the "other" set of tyres.
That sounds very interesting, say for owners with a separate set of snow tires. I've got a vague recollection of that "8 memory slots", but maybe it's not on North American, just European spec? Were those steps in your Owner's Manual? Sorry for butting in, appreciate OP is in Jordan.
I think you are correct. Only for the European models of either Gen4 or PHV (aka PRIME) has 8 slots. AND they use different frequency TPMS sensors. I think North American's are 315mHz, but EU are 433mHz, IIRC. Edit: I found the thread. Read this comment. Registering TPMS IDs | Page 6 | PriusChat
