Boy it's real easy snaking that ATF funnel hose through, with the engine out. Dramatic pictures; that's a tall drink of engine.
Thank you for the pictures!! Man, that cvt fluid is DARK. Maybe I missed it, but how many miles on the Prius?
So what did you do to unplug the ac compressor? Did you just disconnect the lines or dis you took it to a shop to get the gas out?
@b100 As far as I know AC line disconnect is not necessary with engine removal: the compressor can be unbolted, ditto for some line brackets, then just pull it away, maybe tie to something.
Got the engine all bolted in and now connecting all the hoses, wiring harness and fuel line. All that's left to do is wipers and some plastic parts. Last BOLT is in!!!! Just have to put in the Super long life Toyota Coolant (Bleed all the air out) and some Mobil One 0w-20 Ha ha ha You can see the old engine in the back of the picture
Yeah, I had to clear the previous codes and charge up the 12v battery. I Drove it around the block a few times. No Codes. So Far so good.
THAT'S GREAT!!! I hope everything works perfectly for you! And now you can rebuild the original motor!
I need to pull my trani. How many bolts was it and any suggestions on their removal. Thanks in advance!
2 bolts on top 2 bolts where the starter cover plate is (because there is no starter) 3 on the bottom and 2 on the back -So 9 all together-
Wow! Your pictures make the engine swap look sooo easy. Hope that the new engine works out well for you! Please keep us posted. Don't know if I will be that ambitious. Just have to take real good care of the engine that I got, LOL.
You could buy a whole bunch of broken Prii, repair them and have a fleet to put on turo for real cheap. The only catch is that a car has to have less than 130,000 miles and not have a rebuilt or salvage title. I wish I could do what you can do I could quit my job and have a huge fleet of Prii Making money for me while I relax at the beach in L.A.
Nice resurrection! Sounds like this was a n easy job for you. Really cool to see you got a steal and put some work into it.
I will try to fix any Prius... It just takes time and tools. The best tool is a Toyota Scan tool.(Mini VCI + Tech Stream)
Probably about 6 hrs Most of the time is disconnecting Wires and hoses. Then reconnecting all the stuff. Unbolting and hoisting is fast and easy.
