Hi all, I'm in the market for a brand new 2019 or 2002 Prius L Eco. I noticed there is no thread for prices paid like other car forums. I was looking at TrueCar and CarGurus and noticed the 2019 Prius are going for a very large discount. MSRP is $24,725 and the market average price is listed at $20,696 so I assume a great deal would be below $20,000 or even $19,000. Anyone here actually get the car for these low prices? On CarGurus it is even lower showing a MSRP of $23,770 and a great price of $18,366! But I assume CarGurus is not including destination charge so that would bring it up about $1000. So I guess $19,500 would be a good price to target. As for the 2020 model which I prefer because of Apple CarPlay, the price on CarGurus is MSRP of $24,200 and great price of $21,173. So add $1000 for destination and that would be about $22,200. I'm not sure if Apple CarPlay is worth that much but since I'm not in a hurry to get the car, I can wait till the 2020 gets cheaper. Anyone like to share how much they paid for their new Prius recently? Thanks,
Those seem like some pretty low numbers but I can only go from my experience. I paid $25,500 OTD (tax, license, etc.) for my 2019 AWD-e XLE and i feel that was a pretty good deal, but I could be wrong. Interested to see what everyone else's experience was.
Date of Purchase - 12/7/2020 Area - Dallas, Tx Vehicle - 2020 Toyota Prius XLE (Metallic Grey / Moonstone) MSRP - $ 29,245 Negotiated Price - $ 24,000 Additional Options - $ 1800 Negotiated Additional Options Price - $ 800 Dealer Fees - $ 350 Price without tax and title $ ( 24000 + 800 + 350) $ 25,150 (Financed with the dealer at 4.99 % APR for 60 months)
What was your price before tax title and license? Either way, looks like you got a pretty good deal. The 2019s have a $2500 cashback incentive right now. wow, great deal on a 2020! You beat the car gurus great price by $1000.
gas prices dropping = Prius prices dropping. Plus, the "automotive press" is really slagging on the Prius, saying its past its "sell by" date, like the new Beetle. Even more so, CA recently cut WAY back on Rebates. I was shopping for Prius on Dec1-2, because it was only days off for weeks. Not one dealer told me CA was cutting rebates by $2500 on Dec 3. If I'd have heard about that I would've forced myself to buy. Now I'm gonna take that $2500 out of Dealer, or at least sure try. You had ONE JOB.
I’ve noticed a huge amount of negative press surrounding the Prius too and it makes me reminisce of prior years closer to its release. It seems like it’s never fully been able to shake its beginnings despite moderate success. I’m a firm believer that if more people approached it with an open mind and actually gave it a chance they would never look back. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned hands down.
I'm confused, is there a reason you guys are going for a prius vs prius prime? They are hands down cheaper after state and federal rebates. 20-21k OTD after rebates in california.
For me, I don’t have a garage or outdoor outlets so a PIP would make little sense. I also wanted AWD considering my proximity to snow and frequent adventure activities. I also needed a 5th seat (2019 model). The only perks for me would have been pricing after rebates and the more attractive IMO styling. Unfortunately neither of these make up for the loss of functionality.
You guys got killer deals..... I dont think I did that great with mine... . 2019 XLE AWD - Purchased 11/1/2019 MSRP: $31.731 Base Price: $28,820 Options: $1.956 Delivery: $955 Total Negotiated Price before taxes and fees: $28,246.24 OTD price for me in NJ: $30,793.86 (total loan amount through TFS at 1.9%)
Well, maybe a new 2019.... But I doubt you will find a brand new 02' lol Seriously though, I paid $27K cash, for my 2019 LE, the door with crazy CA tax and registration (tax was about $2200, registration $400.... Because of retarded politics, but don't get me started) So about $24,400 ? Only options I got was the factory alarm and roof rack.... Which I will likely need, but don't use daily.
Bought a 2019 Prius LE in White. Minneapolis, 11/15/19. $21,578 (not including tax, title, fees which added about 2k)
Looking at a 2020 gray regular gen 4 (not prime) limited. Fully loaded with sunroof. Is 31,095 a good price?
DANG, how much was that off MSRP? Might be worth a ROAD TRIP! I've been quoted $4600+ off MSRP in SF bay area (includes $2000 Toyota cash and 2600 'dealer discount'. Took that to another dealer and told them I need $4700 PLUS the $2500 CA state rebate that expired on Dec 3 they were too stupid to tell me about on Dec 1. Told them I could "eat" only $500 of the 2500 to punish myself for thinking a Dealer would actually know about a HUGE program that Mr Toyota worked so hard to get CA State to do. They came back asking if I could come up $1500 and I said no, then they asked if I could come up $750 and I said no. So I'm at $4700 + $2000 for total of $6,700 off MSRP with them countering at $5950 off MSRP (plus free roof racks that cost them $110 but retail for $300). This is for LE Prime with White paint($400) and $900 8 spoke rims. Could someone please post a CA (redacted) dealer contract, AKA the 'fine print'. I'd like a chance to review and of course dealer acts like its some big secret. PS-why are dealers SO bad at selling cars??? I've run across a few cases of hardened career criminals, and one co-worker who was trying to show low wages to get his Child Support reduced, working at major brand new car dealerships because the conditions of probation etc required them to have a "job", but they didn't want a real job, they wanted something where they could be on personal cell phone all day and leave at anytime to do their gang stuff. Its likely they aren't helpful because they really, really don't care. Dealers will "hire" anyone but only pay them commission but it still counts as "a job".
how much off MSRP? I've heard should be more % off MSRP for higher end and 'loaded' because those are high markup for dealer.
Was quoted $24500 for LE in Concord, but that when CA was still doing $1500+2000. Now its $1000 and no 2k. When you buy?
I forgot to take a pic of the window sticker. Their site says it msrps for $34,104 and that they marked it down to $32,095. for me the salesman offered $31,095.
I just purchased a 2019 Limited with the Premium Convenience Package, for $30,900, minus $2,500 2019 Toyota incentive, for $28,400 (no trade or financing); it's red so the price includes $395 for the special paint color. For a 2020, your price isn't bad; maybe they'd go down a few $hundred. Be sure you're familiar with the current Toyota incentives in your area, and whether these are included in your price quote. If the dealer website has the VIN of the vehicle, you can put the number into the Toyota Owner's website (must create an account), and see the exact specifications of the vehicle, as listed on the window sticker .
review this deal's fine print and pricing. $5900 off MSRP or no? Blue computer screen is just example and not actual loan/downpayment. I'm about 90% sure it just says the $2000 from Toyota is part of my 5900, but I've heard of some scam where somehow the dealer hornswaggles you and keeps it. Maybe it was just dumb buyers who expected to get a $2k check? What do you think of this deal? I guess they want to tack on $189 for "anti theft device". What is that? Car has 40 miles on it and is "dealer swap" unlike the identical car I test drove and got this offer but that was a week prior. Does this deal mean the total price is $24500 + $189 (anti-theft) plus tax, lic and "doc fee"? PS what about any "extended warranty" sold by dealerships? Worth it or no? IIRC the guy said "$2400 but on sale for $1500" but forget what it covered. Can better extended warranty be had elsewhere?
The way it worked for me was that the dealer and I negotiated the sales price-including the Toyota incentive ($2500). When the bill of sale was written, the $2500 was treated as a down payment; so the taxable sales price was the negotiated price, plus the $2500 (plus doc fee too). I had to sign a form from Toyota that accepted the incentive as a payment toward the sales price--I don't think there's an option to take the incentive as cash. Follow that? In your case, it looks like you negotiated $24,500 for the sale, including the $2000 incentive. So your taxable price is $26,500, plus doc and gvt fees. (The $2000 is treated like a down-payment would be). Your $189 is for etching the VIN into the glass, I believe (and maybe other parts). Etching would be a deterrent to chop shops selling your parts, if your vehicle is stolen. The $24,500 price sounds pretty fair to me; if you can pay the car off quickly and avoid the 6.9% financing interest, you'll save a lot more $ than haggling for a few hundred on the sale price.
