Hi folks, I am currently considering a prius of some version for my commuter car to replace a 07 Fit I wrecked. I am currently using my 08 Tundra 4x4 (15 mpg). My commute is 27 miles each way. A mile of SnG, 25 miles of I95 at 65 to 75 mph, followed by another mile of SnG. Occasionally I go for lunch, 2 miles of SnG. Home trip is the same. But with 3 miles of stupid drivers causing SnG on I95. When not working, i do short (under 20 miles) trips: grocery store, big box stores, daughter 's house, etc. I am planning on a 2015 cpo prius 4 with sunroof package. Hoped to get mid 40's mpg. My question is whether a plugin would provide any benefit over the hybrid. The advanced plugin is within a $1000 of the prius 4. There is no place to plug in right now at work. In the next 6 months, there may be. Thanks!
Actually, the Gen 1 Plug-In is built on a Gen 3 Prius, if that helps. Looking at the Toyota Entune app, every one of the top 100 drivers is exceeding 50 mpg so far for the month of December, including one driver with nearly 1300 miles as of 12/8. The advanced trim gives you plenty of nice little surprises that will keep you busy discovering them for months.,
Hey Bisco, i saw some threads on the g3 page about engine issues. Oil consumption, erg system pluggage (i stalli g an occ), head gasket failures. What's the poop? Is this prevalent or just a small percentage? I'm looking at cars with ~50k miles. Could they be "ruined" by that time?
see my reply to your other post. 50k, you should be fine. it's a good time to take a peek inside the egr valve i have 67,000 miles, but only 22,000 on the engine.
