Just wanna troll the board for thoughts... I just got the call today saying that a Black #9 with tan interior was in, where I wanted one with the gray interior. I really do love gray interiors, but if I had to compromise on anything, that would be it. How much different are the two interiors, really, in terms of looks and cleaning?
I personally think that the black exterior with beige interior looks hot. I have the gray interior, so I can't comment on cleaning. Whatever you choose, it will be great.
I don't think you're giving up much...it cleans up nice...I don't have the gray to compare to, would probably prefer it both in my Seaside or if I had the black, but it would not be a deal breaker either way. I think you'll be happy with it and not give a darn after about 2 weeks.
The only problem I have with dark interiors is that they don't brighten my mood like the light colored interiors do. Mine's beige and it stays clean (I did though put rubber floor mats in as soon as I bought it).
I'm very anal about things like that. Its a big purchase for me and I want what I want. If you are getting calls then you are at the top and the one you want isn't THAT far away. If it was me I would wait. It is a deal breaker for me. And actually. I want a blue Prius, but they dont' come with grey interiors. So I have to settle for a silver, because I don't want black or white. Alpha
Thanks for all the replies! I think I'll end up waiting, because I'm planning on the car lasting 7 years, so I'd like to make sure everything was perfect.
When I was in High School a E Jag yellow with a tan interior was my dream car. Did not know about Jags then. My college roommate got into Jags after we graduated. He really had 2 one to drive and one to be in the shop. Eventually acquired a third for parts. I am quite partial to tan interiors and will not speak against them. But go with your heart. That’s what I did and I will not gain say you for doing the same!
How badly do you want the car? Are you desperate? Get the tan interior! Not really? Keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting...
I doubt you'll even notice the interior color after a short time. We all have our preferences though. Waiting might be painful as only the white, silver and black come in gray and of those ONLY the silver does not also come in ivory/tan. The odds may not be good for your dealer to get a #9 with a gray/burgandy interior.
My own prefrence is grey, as it seems to hide the small scuff marks better. Colour is though, a cosmetic issue. If I were on the list, and this was the only difference regarding the car I wanted, I'd live with the tan.
We got the dealer to make a nice little compromise...we don't pick the car up until the 23rd, so she's going to just hold the black with tan until that date (it shouldn't get there that far before, anyway), and if there isn't a black with gray on its way, then we'll take the tan. Of course, that suggestion about leather ain't half bad.
I got a black/tan, switched leather for the interior, and I have those clear floormats fit on top of the OEM floormats. it's already a lot easier to keep the tan interior in my Prius clean than the Ecru interior in my Lexus. although I will be much prefer a black/black Prius if there is one.
