I had the dealer do an ABS actuator replacement with a new part a few months ago. Now every time I drive the car and turn it off, the car basically screams. It’s a lot louder than it was before and any other gen II I’ve checked. Attached is the clip of turning the car off. Does anyone else’s do this? iPhone ?
Doesn't sound like the brake actuator to me. Sounds like the CHRS pump, pumping the coolant into or out of the coolant thermos.
Does this come up even with the car off, and parked? If it does, then probably they didn't bleed the system properly. How is the braking feel when you press the brake pedal? Does it feel kind of hard?
Is it going bad? Or is this just the sound it makes? iPhone ? Brakes feel fine. It’s only when I immediately turn the car off like in the video then it stops iPhone ?
If it is the CHRS pump, then it definitely has a problem. It could just need air bled, although I doubt that. If you say it only happens on startup and shutdown, that makes that more likely, because those are the only times the coolant pump runs. If you press the brake pedal over and over again while the car is running, you should hear a little rattlesnake type sound behind the dash. That's the brake actuator. If you heard the screaming regularly while driving, then I'd more likely think it's the brakes, but the good thing is the coolant pump should be much cheaper. If you have a good hybrid or Toyota shop nearby, ask for their opinion.
