As in the title, next year the Toyota C-HR crossover is to get the 2.0 Litre Hybrid engine added to the options list, 157 bhp. I thought it would get the AWD as well that would make more sense for a crossover.
Our C-HRs (petrol only so far - Hybrid coming next year) are only FWD. But in reality - have you looked at it? The back seat is worse than useless - it takes up space but I wouldn't put my worst enemy in there (not that I've got any) - and definitely not children unless they have vomit bags. There is absolutely no visibility out the back window - very little for adults, nil for children. Plus, the back door handles seem so flimsy and children have to reach up to them - I reckon they'll be replacing them regularly. There are far better crossovers - unless someone is strictly looking for a 2 seater. That said - the front seats are better than PRIUS front seats.
I hate crossovers full stop, they bounce about too much, but SWMBO loves the C-HR and keeps going on about them as she's about ready to change the old 2006 Gen 2 Prius. Neither of us use the back seats much, so the lack of space in there is no problem, she likes the higher seating for easy access in and out.
Fair but the CH-R is targeting empty nesters and young professionals that don’t use the rear seats often and prefer a bit of style over the derivatives like the HR-V or Qashqai.
I think the CH-R looks freaking awesome ! Way better than my Prius LE. If a Hybrid had been available, I'd have totally considered one. They also have a couple really nice looking pant options, unlike Prius which had none. And BTW, even though my back seats get used constantly with rideshare, back seat space is never a problem for me. My seat is always on the front left lol
Have you sat in the back seat of a C-HR - I didn't believe it when I first saw one, so tried sitting in there. There is no way that you'd use it for RideSharing. It's really a 2 seater car with 4 doors. As for style - I think that C-HR was designed by 17 juvenile stylists who weren't allowed to talk to each other. There is no continuity of style like PRIUS - which, most styling is for a reason - aerodynamics and a practical hatchback.
I haven't, and I still wouldn't if I owned one. Like I say, my seat is always on the front left Again, I think the styling blows away any Prius ever made, not to mention, a few beautiful paint and wheel options. Your probably right about it not being comfortable for ride share though, which is a bummer. But just for a personal vehicle, I think Id love it ! as for back seat space, Id just rip those completely out anyway, for more storage, and a nice subwoofer enclosure. And BTW, I'm not a young guy... I'm 56
