We currently own a 2007 Prius with 228,000 miles (have put about 200k on it ourselves). I am looking closely at upgrading to a 2020 Prius Prime XLE and have a few questions: I have a set of 185/65/15 Snow tires on Steel wheels that I use for my 07 Prius. Would these fit on the 2020 for the winter in terms of a direct bolt on? This month, Toyota is offering $3,000 customer cash on the 2020 Prime, this is up from $1,500 last month. Has anyone with a historical perspective ever seen more than $3,000 customer cash offered on the Prime? Does customer cash impact the Dealership's ability to negotiate? In other words, does the customer cash come out of their profit, or is it separate from the room they have to make a profit? I'm looking at this as MSRP + Tax + Delivery of around $33,500 - $4,500 (Federal Tax Credit) - $1,100 NY Instant Tax Credit - $3,000 Customer Cash = $24,880ish BEFORE any further negotiations. I recognize the federal tax credit is not at the time of purchase, but, thoughts on my questions and anything else I may be missing here? Thank you in advance!
1. Yes, it fits. Slightly narrower, but should be fine for snow. 2. Yes, there has been up to $5000 rebates on previous model years of PRIME, but this may not happen on 2020. 3. No, rebate is from TOYOTA not from dealer, but my experience has been that dealers do seem to give less discount when rebates goes up.
see the prime pricing thread for lots of great buying info and tips dealer discounts are based strictly on inventory, competition, sales numbers and customer savvy
Dealers in Maine have offered me $2000-2750 discounts in addition to Toyota's $2000 discount for a 2020 Prime. This is their initial offer
Review the prices paid thread (starting around pg 159?) and see if you can be an Uber driver and a USA Triathlon member for an additional $1250 in incentives. These are from Toyota also, so the dealer shouldn't lose any profit (good to not mention these after you've negotiated a best price)
